Default What if John Amos had never left the show?

What direction do you think the show would have taken? Would there have ever been a Penny or Keith? Do you think the family's fortunes would have improved?

I really think that the show would have lasted much longer and you would have seen the family make changes. The figure of James Evans gave the show a stable force and enabled the show to relate to all people. I do think that it was a shame that he left the series and it lost some of its relevance with his departure.

NO, Penny was only added because the show had no mother or father. Maybe Keith would have still ben added but defintely not Penny

If John Amos never left, it would have remained a great show. In my opinion, it took a nosedive, crashed and burned after he left.

Obviously, Florida would have never left the show, and I think at some point, James would have found the job and the money he was looking for.

I always wondered how James would have reacted to Keith. Try to scare him off? LOL He did his best when Thelma wanted to marry Larry, the guy who got a partnership in a gas station.

It sure did, if it weren't for the characters of Willona and Penny, the show would make my worst 50 list. As many others have astutely pointed out on another thread, there was so much wrong with the show. Norman Lear had many shows that were winners but this was surely not one of them.

Solomon, how was he supposed to return a dead character?

When John Amos left, GOOD TIMES was no longer GOOD.

I disliked, yea, LOATHED the Carl Dixon character. It may have been ok to show Florida venturing out back into the dating world, but to have her get engaged (and marry this guy offscreen)--YUCK
