Default Nicholas Cage To Quit Acting?

Actor Nicholas Cage is threatening to quit the industry because he has "grown tired" of appearing in blockbuster movies. The World Trade Center star admits he has lost his passion for acting and laments his career has forced him to become reclusive.

He says, "Some movie stars look like they are having a ball, but I'm tired of it. It has made me reclusive. That is an increasingly gnawing feeling in my body. When I first started I loved it. One of my frustrations is I have no control. I haven't worked in a while, and it will be eight months before I start my next picture. I know for the first time which direction I'm going in and what changes I want to make."

The Oscar-winner also fears his fans are tired of watching him on the big screen. He adds, "For some reason, I p**s off the audience. People who like one type of film don't like to see me in another. Things I did and said early on still haunt me. I started acting at 17, but I'm 44 now and have grown up. I wonder if I am still interesting to watch if I didn't drink or raise hell, but it's obnoxious to keep drinking."

I think he has grown tired, he talks like he's sleeping half the time.

I agree, he should do some indie films. I think he's fantastic in smaller movies, it's partly his fault that he keeps taking action movies

he should get more diverse roles such as drama and comedy, as opposed to action movies. usually that term action refers to actors such as bruce willis, sly stalone, arnie, nicolas is much more than that. i liked raising arizona and it could happen to you. he also starred in honeymoon in vegas, wild at heart and leaving las vegas to name and so he should star a lot more of those types of movies. i think he is a good actor- he gets criticised a lot, not so much because of his acting ability but mainly in regards to the types of movie projects he chooses.

i hope he doesn't quit and i don't get bored watching him altogether- i just wished he'd get better scripts and parts where he does display his talent, rather than shoot people and beat the crap out of the bad guys because it is mundane and tedious to watch, well for me that is, anyway

He just sounds burned out. Maybe he needs some time off, a year or so. Nicholas Cage has a very diverse body of work. War movies, blockbusters, drunks, family man, comedies, horror, etc. He's all over the map. He's one of my favorite actors, and I've seen every one of his movies. Just looking at his movies here, it's incorrect to say that he's stuck on any one type of movie. He's a busy, hardworking actor, who made it on talent, not pretty boy looks. I think he'll be around for decades to come.

Nobody is putting a gun to his head and forcing him to do crummy movies like "Ghost Rider" and "Next."

He can be a bit more selective nowadays.

Funny, with Nick Cage I either love him or hate him in a movie. Hopefully if he still works, it'll be more upbeat movies. I felt like killing myself after watching Leaving Las Vegas.
