Was that Canadian Rest Stop Killer (Long Blonde Hair) ever caught? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I could have sworn I saw on an UM update session or read somewhere that he was caught and it turnd out to be an ex cop, but then I also think I have read elsewhere that he wasn't caught and that was the wrong guy, and/or the guy had to be released due to lack of edvidence.

Any help?

I believe there was a suspect in the case named Ronald Glen West, but he was exonerated, so the crime is still unsolved, unfortunately.

I'm not so sure about the "exonerated" part. The last I heard, there was too little evidence to charge Ronald Glenn West in the rest stop killings. However, he is currently in prison for two murders unrelated to the case.

Well, as much as all murderers look the same to some people, the fact he is in prison for two unrelated murders doesnt make him the automatic suspect in the killings of Brian Major and Jackie McAllister and the attempted murder of Jackie's husband Gord.

I'm not saying West didnt do it, but arent the murders that he was convicted of the murders of two younger women? This murder seems completely different. This murder seems like the motive was just a guy that likes to kill, but robbery was part of it, probably to throw the authorities of the trail.

But again, it is innocent until proven guilty in this country and in Canada too for that matter, or at least that is how it is supposed to be but as people become more and more angry, it seems that it is guilty until you prove yourself innocent and that is wrong. I'm sorry, it is just plain wrong.

Yes........although like others have said, he's jailed for two other murders.

That is the man who is suspected to be the Connecticut Valley Serial Killer, in New England. The Blind River Rest Stop Murders happened in southern Ontario, Canada. And AFAIK, the suspect wasn't a serial killer.

I phoned the Ontario Provincal Police in 2007. The officer in Blind River did a check and said Ronald Glen West is not the killer. The real killer is still out there with like a 50 000 price on his head. So this case is open!

Just one correction - Blind River is in northern Ontario, not southern Ontario.

I have been trying to find a picture of Ronald Glen West on the internet to no avail. I notice his case was on Cold Case Files today so I took a picture of him with my cellphone. I can see a resemblance to composite in the Blind River Rest Stop killings although he was never charged with the crime.

West hasn't been charged; is this perhaps due to lack of solid evidence rather than innocence? We've seen that many times with suspects in UM cases...
