Doesn't look like I will be able to go. Man, wish I could though. Sounds like it will be a lot of fun.

Wait a minute! Sherwood Schwartz is just NOW getting a star on the Hollywood walk of fame? What's up with that? He should have had one long ago.
Oh well, better late than never, I guess.

...And may the Schwartz be with you.
(Sorry, couldn't resist)

Yeah that's true but I think when you get one of these at 91 it's more special because you appreciate it more and you appreciate BEING there for it more.

Well gosh, I'm not even the one gettting it and I'm excited about tomorrow!

I'll post some nice pictures of it kids.

'Gilligan' creator gets Hollywood star
The Associated Press
Article Launched: 03/07/2008 06:09:08 PM PST

LOS ANGELES—Sherwood Schwartz, who created the TV comedy classics "Gilligan's Island" and "The Brady Brunch," gleefully thanked the leading ladies of those shows Friday when he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
"To me, Dawn will always be Mary Ann on 'Gilligan's Island' and Florence will always be Mrs. Brady," said Schwartz, 91, referring to actresses Dawn Wells and Florence Henderson, who also spoke during the ceremony.
Schwartz also mused about his start in show biz, which happened "by accident," he said.
Schwartz came to Southern California from New York in 1938 to get a master's degree in biological sciences. In need of work, he started writing jokes for Bob Hope's radio show, which Schwartz's brother Al worked for.
"Bob liked my jokes, used them on his show and got big laughs. Then he asked me to join his writing staff," Schwartz said. "I was faced with a major decision—writing comedy or starving to death while I cured those diseases. I made a quick career change."
Schwartz went on to write for "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet" and other radio shows.
He turned to TV in the 1950s, eventually creating "Gilligan's Island" in 1963.
After the show ended in 1967, Schwartz created the blended family comedy "The Brady Bunch," for which he also wrote the theme song.
Syndicated reruns of both shows have made them longtime TV comedy staples. "The title of the winning film at the Oscars
this year was wrong. Who says this is 'No Country For Old Men?'" Schwartz joked.

Well gang, it was a terrific day today. The only disappointment was that Lana Hale and Emily Denver were both unable to attend but Patrick Denver showed up as did Dawn Wells. On the Brady front, Florence Henderson, Chris Knight and Susan Olsen were in attendance. And the biggest suprise......Monty 'Let's Make A Deal' Hall showed up. Apparently they're good friends.
Every one of Sherwood kids, kids-in-law, grandkids and GREAT grandkids showed up and every one of them looked really happy and proud. Mildred Schwartz, who turns 89 this weekend was also given a special nod.

I don't know who it was that filled in for Johnny Grant but after he recited Sherwood's accomplishments, both Dawn and Florence stepped to the podium and each gave highly entertaining speeches. Then after the host mentioned all the other special guests in attendence, Sherwood himself stepped up to accept the award. It is absolutely astounding how funny and compelling a speech he wrote and recited up there........at NINETY ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!

For me, the most thrilling moment was bringing Patrick over to see Dawn and then Sherwood. Neither knew he was coming, nor had they seen him since Bob died. It was lovely to see them all reconnected.

Finally, let me tell you that Dawn, nearly 70 is absolutely stunning in person. I'm still shocked.

Unfortunately my pictures didn't turn out so great as I'm still figuring out my camera as well as this computer, which isn't mine. There'll be others to see in The Star etc. Mine might come later.

Congratulations Sherwood!

Sounds like it was a fun time. Hmm I never knew Monty Hall and him were friends. That was nice of them to mention his wife. I was reading in his book that they have been married since 1941. I would have loved to hear his speech. All of his interviews he does he is very good. Says some funny things on the spur of the moment.

I recorded Inside Edition and Entertainment Tonight but no mention of the ceremony, it just isn't fair. I am recording Extra early in the morning, I hope someone mentions it.

Aww, that's so great that he finally got it! That's pretty cool about it being his wife's birthday too! Wow, that's amazing that he got up and gave a speech; it just shows his drive and determination! Glad it went well HH!

Now I'll have to go out there just to see his star! lol

Congrats Sherwood; we owe you!!
