She was also in the Get Smart episode The Day They Raided the Knights. I had seen her in that before I had seen her on Bewitched.

It seems she's been in several shows then. I really like her "Shelia" character the best.

I kept looking at her on that episode and couldn't figure out where I'd seen her before. Then she gives this snooty nasty look and bingo I knew it was Shelia.

She also did "Love, American Style". I recently saw her on a rerun and she was her blonde self (LOL).
I always felt that Sheila should have been a recurring foil for Sam--like maybe two or three episodes per season. |

She was also on an episode of the 1st b/w season of "I Dream of Jeannie" entitled "The Moving Finger." She played a movie star, Ms. Rita Mitchell, who had been married 6 times and Jeannie wanted to make sure Tony was NOT # 7! This was a very good and endearing episode of "I Dream of Jeannie" and really gets to the essence of Jeannie and Tony's relationship - much the same as the 1st season episode of "Bewitched" entitled "A is for Ardvark" does. This episode of "Jeannie" also is the 1st to establish the rule in which genies can not be photographed (a rule that would be broken in several episodes but re-established in the 5th season episode, "The Wedding." Nancy Kovack was also in an episode of "Star Trek" I believe. While she played Darrin's old girlfriend, Sheila, in the pilot episode and in two other episodes in season 3, she also played a client of McMann and Tate's, Cleo, in a 2 part episode during season 5. In this 2 part episode, Serena turns her into a monkey...and Nancy Kovack's hair is BLONDE. It looks much like the screen capture shown of Hawaii Five-O.
FYI - In real life Nancy's hair today is blonde. She is married to a famous orchestra leader, Zubin Mehtah (???). He was honored in 2007 at the Kennedy Center Honors and she is with him there. Also, several years ago, they (Nancy and Zubin Metah) sued Susan McDougal, the woman who would not testify to Kenneth Starr against Pres. Clinton and spent a year in jail. I believe she kept books for Nancy and Zubin Metah or something to that effect. Great info. on a "Bewitched" Six Degrees of Separation game! |

Nancy's Star Trek appearance was the episode "A Private Little War." Her career went through a few twists and turns in terms of prominence. After starting out as a game show model on shows like "Beat The Clock" and the Bill Cullen version of "The Price Is Right" she got what could have been a chance for stardom in the movie "Jason And The Argonauts" as Medea, but because the movie didn't do well and a sequel wasn't made that would have given her more exposure, Nancy was reduced to doing very small TV episode guest bits like a S1 "Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea" where she has just one critical scene as a spy, and a S1 "Man From UNCLE" where she's just a minor henchlady to villainess Elsa Lanchester.
In 1965, she had a big five minute scene in the movie "Sylvia" with George Maharis, playing a stripper (whenever you see photos of her on e-bay posing in a bikini with a bridal veil, they're from this movie) and this ended up boosting her stock in terms of TV guest appearances, in that she was now getting more prominent billing in them (her "Star Trek" episode would be a case in point, as well as a return visit on "Man From UNCLE" where she's now the female lead in the episode). After marrying Zubin Mehta in 1969 and appearing in the movie "Marooned" (as the wife of trapped astronaut James Franciscus), Nancy retired and then came back briefly in the mid-70s as the murder victim in the pilot movie for "Ellery Queen" (billed as Nancy Mehta) and an episode of David McCallum's short-lived "Invisible Man" series. |
