I hope that I am not ruining your thread with this post, Monika, because you know I would never want to do that. I really dislike K.C. & the Sunshine Band. I don't even like "Boogie Shoes", their song from Saturday Night Fever (when I listen to the soundtrack, I just skip over that song). It has always been my opinion that it was artists like KC & the Sunshine Band and the Villiage People who made some people loath disco so much. I think there music was really poory written and performed. Of course, as Dennis Miller used to say, this is just my opinion and I could be wrong.

It's OK, Mike - to each his own. Those are actually the only songs by them I like. I went to see the Indians clinch the Central Division back in September with my brother. They played Boogie Shoes over the PA during the game - so it brings back a good memory.
But I digress.

KC & The Sunshine Band were the group that everyone did "the Bump" to back in the 70's. Boy does that bring back the memories! (lol!)

KC weren't the best, but they weren't that bad. I think they're just typecast because they have four or five songs there that are played out party anthems. He was one of the only disco era artists to have a hit in the Reagan era with "Give It Up".

I also like the duet that KC did with Teri DeSario - "Yes, I'm Ready".

Awhile back I saw KC at a small club in D.C. He was over an hour late taking the stage (no seating - everyone was packed together on the floor). When he finally showed up, he literally looked green. He was a mess.
We left after 4 or 5 songs. I decided at that point I'd stick to the records. Anyway, favorite song: I'm Your Boogie Man. |
