Default 3-month anniversaries....lol

Lol i was watching Little People, Big World the other night and the 17? year old boy (Jeremy) was hanging out with his friends and his girlfriend called him like 3 times saying "It's our 9 month anniversary tonight" in other words, telling him to stop hanging out with his friends to go see her. But last time i checked, an anniversary is a ONCE A YEAR thing..LOL. I think the term is more popular amongst preteens and young teens...one of my cousins (who was about 15 at the time) said "oh it's my anniversary today, i can't go see a movie with you guys" And i said, "Oh? I didn't know you'd been dating someone" and she said "Yeah it's our 3 month anniversary."

Anyone else find this dumb?

lol, I know some people who've celebrated their 1/2/3/4/5 week anniversary etc. That's cute and all but when you make it for a year... then you really have something to celebrate!

Both of my sisters do that with their boyfriends. They're 13 and 15. Honestly, I've never dated a guy long enough to have a one month anniversary

Lol, a week anniversary i've heard of too. It's already expensive enough, when you have birthdays, christmas/other holidays, and valentines day, and mothers/fathers day...plus anniversary...so why would you want to make more anniversaries than you need?

Another pet peeve of mine when it comes to day/month/year conversions is when i ask how old a baby is. Some people are stupid enough to say "Oh she's 26 months". Ok, it's okay to say your baby is 6 months old, etc. but after the child turns a year old, say your child is a year old. It's complicating to some people who have to figure out how old 46 months is. Plus, it sounds like you're trying to hang on to a newborn. Let your kid grow up, for crying out loud.

THANK YOU! That's one of my biggest pet peeves! I once heard a lady say her son was "36 1/2 months old" I wonder if they know how crazy that sounds.

ha yeah...i believe the prefix "ann" refers to year, not just any length of time. i use it as well though even when i mean less than a year, because i can't think of an easier term to use. as far as relationships and such go, i only get excited over it at six-month intervals.

Wow, you just TOTALLY missed the point of this thread.

But I totally agree. I don't believe in celebrating monthly anniversaries, just the big ones.

At this point, a week would be something to celebrate. Never quite made it to a day...

I feel you there, like I said before, 2 weeks is my longest. However, we only saw each other twice in those 2 weeks, then he broke up with me in a note, and he was 24 years old at the time!

I note is the cowards way. Easy, yes. But very cowardly.

I say that here. But I really couldn't say whether I'd have the guts to brake up with someone to there face...

Wow, you'd be amazed at how many stupid people there are regardless of age. I've learned never to judge anyone from their age, because i met so many stupid 30 year olds and so many mature 15 year olds. Yeah though, glad he broke up with you with a note in a way, now you know he wasn't worth your time. And you can tell everyone he knows how lame he really was
