What did Helen ever see in that bore? At least she came to her senses and married Joe.

It did seem a little out of character for her to be with him. And go through all she went through for him (always breaking their dates, I mean). But then again, this is the woman, who at one time went out with Lowell (albeit for only one episode). Although, in my opinion, even Lowell is better than Davis Lynch.

I've asked myself the same question. Yeah, he was rich, but as Admantium said above, he was always breaking dates. So I don't think it was that. Maybe she was doing it just to kind of annoy Joe and make him jealous? (If that was her motive, I think we can all agree it worked! lol) Either that or, as a former "fat girl," Helen didn't think she could do better.
Just my two cents. I'm glad to see some activity here, at least. - Kristen |

She also refused to give Antonio a chance when he would have treated her with a lot more respect than Davis did.

But you knew that. I just couldn't simply answer "in the episode "Divorce, American Style." I wanted to describe the episode, lol. |

Right, that's it. Thanks, Admantium. I think, at least in part, Helen dating Davis was about getting under Joe's skin. Davis isn't really a BAD guy, he's just not what Helen deserved. I really can't see any other reason why she'd be interested in him, if not that. - Kristen |

I love those two eipsodes. I also love the one where they realized they're still legally married

Well, Davis was pretty charming on their first "date", when Helen went angry at Joe for putting her on the spot to have lunch with him. And later they obviously had a banter with each other about what to give on a date, and that silly "I thought you were more attractive" and "I thought you were taller", walking away from each other and then shrieking as a gag.
But Helen showed her instability with the whole jeep in the office, and it sort of resurfaced with Davis and the way she put up with his absentee nature. "He'll think I'm a hysterical woman.....AND I'M NOT!" (door slam) |
