Hi all - I'm currently watching season 3 of TGG ( again ! I love them all ! ) and in Rose's Big Adventure there seems to be some audio dubbing which I can't seem to understand why its there.
It's the scene near the end where Vincenzo has converted the guestroom back to a garage - and he says that he's sorry for the misunderstanding and would be glad to convert it back to a guest room. Blanche says no no - just thank him for everything etc - so Sofia starts to speak but the sound is so different as if it's been audio dubbed on, her lip sync is good for the first couple of words but ????? Any one have any ideas on this ??? Thanks if anyone can shed any light on it. |

Does it have something to do with Sophia speaking Italian to Vincenzo?

Hi there - yes she's speaking in Italian - but the other Italian bits she says to him are different - the last piece is strange - there's no background noise or any of the laughter from the audience - it sounds as though it's just Estelle sitting in a booth with a microphone doing the line - it's weird !

Maybe since Estelle Getty can't speak Italian, they recorded her speaking (maybe reading from a script) to Vincenzo and then dubbed it in.

Definitely a dub. Not only does the sound change (you hear an echo), but her mouth doesn't move with the words perfectly. I'm not sure why they did this since she is speaking her Italian lines live most of the time.
I've never paid attention to this before, you have a good ear. |
