Has anyone here ever read the book that M*A*S*H was based on by Richard Hooker?

I've read it and the first sequal...I believe there are like 7 or 8 maybe sequal...idk for sure.

I didn't like it quite as much just because it's more similar to the movie than the tv show, and live i've said elsewhere, i just perfer the tv show.

But it was still good.

I haven't read it in years, but I think it's good. I have an old copy that I bought once way back in 1977.

For those who never read it, you'll be a little surprised at some of the changes-like Major Frank Burns is Captain Frank Burns, the Frank Burns from the show is a combination of Major Frank Burns and another officer (I forget his name), Major Maragret Houlihan is Major Margaret O'Houlihan, and it has a lot more characters than the show. And Klinger isn't in it. Either is Zale, Igor, and Ginger Ballis.

Richard Hooker (that was his pen name-his real name was Richard Thornberger) wrote the sequels as a-I guess you could say-"attack" on the TV show; which he hated.

Does the book have the same type comedy that the show has, or is it different?

I'd say it's the same kind as in the early episodes.
