(The NY Giants won the NFC Conference Championship by beating the GB Packers 23 - 20.)
(Ralph & Ed walk out of the pool hall.) Ralph: “Wow! What game Norton. Those Giants really showed Green Bay.” Ed: “Yeah, they showed them who’s boss of the NFC.” Ralph: “Now, they have one game to play. It is the Super Bowl. Who would have ever thought that they were going to make it this far?” Ed: “Not me. They had the odds stacked against them from the start and like Giants they squashed them. Fee-fi-fo-thumb.” Ralph: “Yes. What agreat Super Bowl it would be. The undefeated Pats losing to the Giants. The Pats don’t stand a chance.” Ed: “Well, too bad the rest of the world won’t care.” Ralph: “What do you mean?” Ed: “Ralph, New England is somewhat close by. Because the teams are located within a very close proxomity, the rest of the world won’t care.” Ralph: “It’s their loss. They will miss a great Super Bowl.” Ed: “Yeah, the Pats beating the Giants again.” Ralph: “What?” Ed: “Ralph, the Pats are a very good team. They beat the Giants the last time during a game that was apparantly simulcasted everywhere.” Ralph: “You traitor. You are voting for the enemies?” Ed: “Well, I have a feeling if I don’t pull for the Pats, I will be identified as anti-American.” Ralph: “You are ready for Bellevue pal. You are pulling for the Giants hands-down like myself.” Ed: “And like the Giants, you are a GIANT of a man.” Ralph (yells): “OKAY NORTON! PUT ‘EM UP! PUT ‘EM UP!” (Ed runs away while Ralph runs after him.) (Jackie Gleason walks on stage. The audience applauds.) Jackie: “Folks. I would like to thank you all. It’s great performing down here in Miami Beach.” (The audience cheers.) Jackie: “Art Carney.” (Art walks out and shakes Jackie’s hand.) Jackie: “As usual, the Miami Beach audiences are the BEST1 GOOD NIGHT!” (Audience cheers.) |
