because of Florence's-"Well how come we overcame and nobody told me?

I guess the plan was for Diane to be the Jeffersons Maid until Marla Gibbs stole the show?_LOL

IIRC, Diane was also in the pilot for The Jeffersons that runs as an episode of AITF. Notice how Diane mysteriously vanishes, even though she is supposed to be the Willis' housekeeper!

Diane was not in the PILOT, only the first episode.

I've wondered the same thing. I guess after seeing both actors, they decided Marla was better in the role. Plus, it was obviously supposed to be a small recurring role in the first place. She was only in a few season 1 episodes. I guess once Mother Jefferson left, they needed someone to fill the spot, and Marla was the one to do it.
