Yes, indeed, a great rant! As for Alice, could it be we are watching the Daytime CBS copies? I know we're looking at old syndicated cuts with the old WB (Warner Communications) logo still being used. But I agree, Ion has TOO many breaks during Alice.

As for the Drew editing, I can say there is more time devoted to Drew for the reason you stated Solomon. Back in the 70's, those shows had more airtime to devote. Drew came out in the 90's and of course, commercials take over. There is not much editing from what I can tell with Drew. I don't think it has anything to do with the Drew show being "special", only that the cuts to the commercials are done where they should be done. With Alice, it seems they have to cut away from dialogue to get the same amount of commercial time in.

Have you bothered to check to see if the amount of commercials that air with ALICE are the same as with Drew? I mean, do we get the same amount of show time with both shows?

I think that everything he said was right. I really would like to see Facts Strokes Spoons Break and few others on Nick@Nite but the thing is once we get our wish there they pull em look at Growing Pains, Facts of Life, Who's The Boss?, and Diff'rent Strokes except for Growing Pains all shows got exactlt 1 year before pulled why is this. Me personally I wanna start an 80s network I think it would be cool because it was one of the most productive decades and also one of the most ignored

That sounds like a great idea for a new cable channel launch

Living in Chicago, we thankfully have ME-Tv which has aired most of the shows you mentioned.

As far as Alice, I've been recording all of the episodes, and then editing them down.

First, there are only three commerical breaks during the show.

Each episode comes in at about 20:00 -21:00, so we're missing at least 4-5 mintues from each show.

The problem I have with their editing is that they cut critical scenes, rather than cutting a minute here and there. They could easily edit out non important banter (which is how the syndicated prints are), rather than cutting scenes critical to the storyline.

I know I seen atleast 4 from start to finish at certain times. Never 2 like Drew Carey

Why does ION need 9-10 minutes for commercial? As I recall from when I watched The Wonder Years, the only advertisements they showed were for Bowflex and Mama's Family over and over. Damn, this network is pathetic!

One reason for fewer commercials during Drew Carey is perhaps there are more advertisers for Alice. Just a thought.

I agree with you. I notice some of the episodes don't make sense because of this.

With Drew Carey on ION, the show isn't getting special treatment or anything. But, it is getting less commercials than other shows because its new. They did the same thing with Who's the Boss? when it first premiered. It was only getting 2 commercial breaks. I guess when they got an audience, they added another commercial break and more editing. Just give it time before we'll all be complaining about the Drew Carey Show being badly edited (although, I've never seen anything worse than Alice on ION-LOL).

With George Lopez, I really don't think you should be complaining. At least it's getting a marathon. At least it's still airing at all. Just give it time before we start seeing week long marathons.
