Question If 227 were ever to be remade - who would be in the cast?

I could see Wanda Sykes as Mary, and Queen Latifah as Rose. Any other ideas?

I like your picks for Rose and Mary so I won't add to them. As for some of the others I think for

Calvin: I'd go with the kid/comedian from that "Just Jordan" show (can't remember his name, though).

Brenda: (P.s the "don't remember the name thing" will be a theme throughout this posts so I'll substitute the movie/tv show I primarily know the from in lieu of something smart like their actual names : There was a girl that the Tyler Perry character was watching over (and being bullied in school) from The Medea Family Reunion movie that reminds me a lot of Regina King. She'd make a good Brenda I think.

I like the idea of Wanda and Latifah as Mary and Rose. I could picture someone like Eddie Murphy as Lester. Sondra would be a really hard choice

Good thread

I would make a few revisions to the concept. I would eliminate Rose all together. Wanda Sykes can still be Mary. The mailman would be a regular character that Mary would get into it with. I would cast Anthony Anderson in that role. Flex Alexander would play Lester. George O. Gore would play Calvin, Aimee Garcia would play Tiffany (yes, i'm bringing Tiffany back) and Bianca Lawson (Goode Behavior) would play Brenda. Marla Gibbs can be Pearl and Eve would be Sondra.

The name of the new series would named "The Set" (slang for community in some parts of Florida). The show would take place in Dallas, TX. Brenda, Tiffany and Calvin are sophmores in high school. Mary is still a stay at home wife and Lester owns a chain of fast food restaurants. The kids would hang out at one of the locations (similar to the kids on Whats Happening) but of course, it would be the location that Lester is never seen at so Brenda can hang. Calvin gets a job at one of the stores in season two.

Mary serves as government watchdog, someone who is always at the city council meeting or county commission speaking out in a humorous way. Sondra would still be Sondra (no changes there). The show would balance between the various aspects of the Jenkins family and Brenda's friends.

Let me know what you all think

No one can replace Helen Martin. In my opinion, it would be hard to, she made the show for me .

Helen Martin was such a skilled comedic actress...I also loved her as Weeping Wanda on Good Times.
