Default MY 3 SONS MISINFORMATION

There has been much misinformation over the years that has been written in many books on old tv shows, etc.when it comes to explaining the different characters departures, etc.on My 3 Sons. Some of you may be aware of these but I'd thought I'd try to clear the air on some of these.
1.BUB WENT TO ICELAND-This appeared in the complete directory to prime time shows 1st edition and I think still appears in current editions. With all due respect,I wish the authors would correct.Bub did not go to Iceland, but went to Ireland to help his Aunt Kate celebrate her 104th birthday, and though I don't think it was ever mentioned ended up staying in Ireland permanently.
2.WILLIAM FRAWLEY DIED DURING PRODUCTION-Due to illness, the studio could no longer insure Frawley, forcing him to depart,a move he didn't want to make. The 1st eps.of Jan.1965 shows Frawley as Bub leaving for Ireland, hence though he was ill,he was very much alive when he left the show.He died a little over a year later in March 1966.
3.ERNIE'S PARENTS WERE KILLED IN A CAR ACCIDENT LEADING TO HIS ADOPTION BY THE DOUGLASES-Totally false. In the 1st color eps.,it shows Ernie's foster mom crying that Ernie's foster dad's job is transferring him to Austrailia and they can't take Ernie w/them as foster kids weren't permitted to leave the country. Now his birth parents,I assume had died, but I don't know if it was ever mentioned that he was a foster kid in the black and white eps.I believe his parents in the black and white shows were treated as his real parents.Oddly enough in an interview on TV Land a few years back,Don Grady stated that it wasn't said what happened to Ernie's parents.I was surprised that he didn't remember what really happened.
I hope this sets the facts straight for My 3 Sons fans.

Now we have to get someone to put it on DVD.

Just to correct some more misinformation in your post... Ernie's foster parents moved to the Orient (not Australia) and the Children's Services Unit did not allow children to be taken out of Kings County (not country), although technically he also couldn't leave the country.

And you are dead right... it is NEVER ever mentioned in any storyline that Ernie's birth parents or foster parents were killed in a car crash. One of the anomalies in doing a vast research on this series is that people will read something false that has been picked up, reprinted and regurgitated all over. I have contact Vincent Terrace who was responsible for the original misconceptions and he promised to have it corrected in succeeding editions. This was quite a few years ago, perhaps he may have passed on?

I never did remember how the story line went. All of a sudden he was living with the Douglas'. It seems sad to have your parents moved to a place that couldn;t take you. How much love was there?. I am glad the Douglas' took him in. I sort want to cry.

Default INFO ON ERNIE'S PARENTS

Hi this post concerns Ernie's foster parents on m3s being transferred to the orient unable to take Ernie w/them at the beginning of season 6 which led to The Douglases adopting him.I was curious if Ernie's parents in seasons 4 and 5 were referred to as his foster parents or were treated in those eps.as his real parents.Thanks.

In the black and white seasons, although Ernie's parents are seen on at least two occasions it is never mentioned that they are his real parents or in fact if they were foster parents. For the sake of the advancement of the storylines, the scenario was created by the show's head writer to keep the series' title plausibe after it appeared set that Tim Considine as the eldest son was leaving the show to pursue other interests.

I never could remember all the details surrounding Ernie's adoption. Oh well. It would not be a problem, if we had it on DVD. I hope that September release date for Season 1, Volume 1 is true.

Weren't there some inconsistencies, the few times Mike was mentioned in the color seasons? Didn't Steve say early on that Mike took a job 'back east'? Then later Mike was called about something, but he was supposedly in Arizona or someplace close????
