Crazy for Blair's name is one of two names picked for the SO Interview of the Week!!
Ask Mike anything. And away we go.... My questions: 1. Who do you admire most? Why? 2. What would your dream job/passion be? Can you tell us more about it? |

Thanks for picking me for the first batch of interviews, Mona. I was really looking forward to doing the SO interview of the week again. 1. There are many people who I admire. I really admire my dad a lot. After working for a company for many, many years, he found himself unemployed in 2002 because the company downsized. Being over 50 years old, he found it very difficult to find a new job. Infact, it took him almost an entire year to find a new job, and it was for much less money than what he was getting. He also doesn't much care for either the job or the hours that he works (4 to midnight) but in the five years he's been there he has never missed a day of work. Even though he dislikes the job, he goes every single day. I really admire that. Any of you who have had to work a job that you didn't like, you know only too well how difficult it is to go in everyday. As I think everyone here at SO already knows, I have a huge amount of respect for Lisa Whelchel. She's beautiful, intelligent and so down-to-Earth. Like Lisa, I am a born again Christian, and I have been greatly inspired by this really amazing lady and her writings. Her book The Facts of Life and Other Lessons My Father Taught Me changed my life. Also, she played one of the two most beautiful television characters ever. Terry Farrell played the other. I also really look up to Colin Powell. He went from being a poor kid who was an underachiever in school to being a general in the Army. His autobiography, My American Journey, is an inspiring story of the American dream come true. 2. My dream job would be a professor of American History at the college level. I don't have the level of college education to have such a job, but it is something that I think would be really exciting to do. Also, if I could take at least one kid who thinks that history is dull and boring and change his mind, that would be really rewarding to me. I know that it can be done, because I used to think that history was dull and boring, but then in college I got the right professors and I had a change of heart. |

DS9 is not only my favorite Star Trek series, it is my all time favorite series period. I simply love the characters, the ongoing storylines and the different types of stories that the show told. Some episodes like "In The Pale Moonlight" are really dark and then others like "The Magnificent Ferengi" are really comical. It is a show that has everything.

If given one day to spend with Lisa Whelchel, what would you two do? Where would you go?
If you had the power to decide right now who our next president would be, who would it be and why? If you could go back in time what would you do different? |
