Default Guns N' Roses "Chinese Democracy" is finished and coming (editor note: yeah sure)

I got this off the DVDTalk music forum.

RollingStone's rock daily section is reporting a story from antimusic.com about Geffen having CD. We may have started this rumor.

(antiMusic) The latest rumor swirling around Guns N' Roses is that the long over-due "Chinese Democracy" is complete and with the label but a new battle has emerged that is causing further delay.
We don't know how much stock to put into third or fourth generation rumors, but the word on the street is that Axl has turned in the CD to Geffen at long last but no release date is in sight because Axl and the label can not agree on the marketing of the album.

Are we closer to Chinese Democracy? We have no idea but we are hopeful. We have yet to hear back with the official denials or "no comment" from the GNR or Geffen camp but we'll keep you posted on what we hear officially or hearsay. Again this is all but rumor at this point , besides rumors are more fun than official news anyway.

considering we've been hearing this story since the fall of 1996, I am sure this album will end up being pushed back again.

I do believe we'll eventually see the album sometime before Axl's 90th birthday (he's 45 now, so we have until 2052)

I'm not even interested in the album. Without Slash and Duff it isn't GN'R to me

Oh No

I've been reading about this fiasco for a while now in Guitar World a year and a half now, and it's amazing that the recording of this album has hit over the $13 million mark with no release date in sight.

Is anyone going to care about it, even if it is the greatest rock album of all time, in the words of the G N' R camp? Or is it going to flop? They'd better make sure that this album is damn good, to make up for the cost of recording the album, which could fuel the economy of some small Third World country for about a year. I agree with Crazy For Blair, no one's going to be even remotely interested in the album without the rest of the ORIGINAL band on it.
The guys on the album, even if they've hung with Axl for however long, are NOT Guns N' Roses. It would be nice if they could get the rest of the band back from Velvet Revolver and resolve their differences amicably. It's amazing how many people had gone in and out of G N' R for all these years.

I take that back, people WILL be interested in Axl's efforts--for about 15 minutes. Tops.

I don't understand why Axl is still using the Guns N' Roses name when he's the only member remaining from their heyday. Of course, Guns N' Roses would sell more by name than "Axl Rose" (just look at Depeche Mode and Rush and the solo projects in between, the established band name almost always outsells the solo projects)

I also believe this album will be very dated by the time it hits. He started working on this album in 1996, back when Oasis and Bush were the biggest rock bands around. This album has been worked on through rap/rock, nu-metal and emo, it's going to be so cliche when it finally comes out. Kinda like how Boston's latter output sounds so dated when it finally comes out, because what sounded so cool in 1988 was ancient and carbon dated by 1994 for instance.
