Default LOL@Joseph Philips Said That Rappers Would Be...........

washing dishes at IHOP restaurant, sweeping the floor at grocery stores and other low paying jobs if rap music never existed because they don't believe in getting a education and speaking proper and acting like they got some sense hahahahahahahahahahahaha. I agree with that. Joseph Philips who was Lisa Bonet's husband on The Cosby Show has a book out called He Talk Like A White Boy. It's a very good book. He said the reason why he called his book that is because when he was a teenager, he said he spoke proper english and a ignorant black girl in his class said out loud that he talk like a white boy. Rapper Dr Dre also said that if rap music never existed, you would have a lot of dead muthaf*ckas and broke muthaf*ckas hahahahahahahahaha. He's telling the truth because most rappers don't believe in reading and getting a education.

Thumbs up

I remember when Joseph Phillips played Justus Ward for several years on General Hospital. He was very good in the role - I may have to check this book out!!

Unfortuneately, there might be some truth in this.

Unfortunately, there is a lot of truth in that.

What is wrong with speaking proper English regardless of your skin color? I am not referring to people who came here and learned to speak English, I am referring to those BORN HERE and can't seem to speak whereas you can actually understand them.

Joseph Philips, thank you!

This reminds me of Will and Carlton on "Fresh Prince in Bel Air". Especially during the first season, Will always teased Carlton about not being black enough. He even said "That's just a tan" once. It was like just because Carlton was a nerd and a snob, he couldn't be black, even though he was black.

Looking at it from Sweden, I was under the impression that the situation for blacks has improved greatly during the last four decades. But it still seems like a lot of them still live in "the hood", and I guess "living in the hood" doesn't excactly mean success. For most people, it means poverty, criminality and no higher education. But white people in bad neighborhoods are probably not the most successful lot either, so it's not just about black people.

I know what your talking about on that Fresh Prince Of Bel Air episode. I don't get this black stuff either that if you don't act ignorant and stupid, then you're not considered black. If you're black and you're smart and intelligent, then you're considered white and weird. Where does that stupid mentality come from? Joseph Philips also talks about Robin Givens in his book. He said he dated Robin before she became a actress and he said he didn't get anywhere with her as far as becoming her boyfriend. He said he tried real hard to impress her to be her man but nothing happened. He said later on she went on Howard Stern's radio show and said that she likes black men who are thugs. He also said that she said she likes white guys who are corny but she doesn't like black men who are corny. Robin Givens is ********. I guess that's why her dumb ass married Mike Tyson because she likes thugs and Mike whipped her ass hahahahahahahahahahaha. That's what her ass gets for saying she likes thugs. I don't like to hear about women getting beat up by their men but if a woman is gonna say some dumb sh*t like Robin said, then don't be surprised if your man whips your ass.

Joseph also talked about former college football Ohio State star Maurice Clarett in his book. He dissed Maurice saying that he should've stayed at college for 4 years and gotten a education instead of trying to go to the NFL after his freshman year. Did ya'll hear about Maurice robbed 2 people outside of a bar in Ohio for their cellphone? What a clown. Now his dumb ass isn't playing for anybody in the NFL because he's in prison.

^ Coming from Ohio, I remember when everyone thought Maurice Clarett was going to be the greatest thing since sliced bread.

That's what happens when you put aside your education for a career in pro sports. And then when you tear up your leg and can't play anymore, then where are you?

Emmitt Smith is a great example. He plays for the Dallas Cowboys and even though he has his career, his money, etc. he still went back to college and graduated because he had made a promise to his mother.

I heard on ESPN recently that former NBA star Larry Johnson went back to college and got his degree.

That's true. Pro athlets should have a second career in mind as well. Maybe they don't all have to go to college, but they should consider other options too.

Joseph also mentioned in his book that a lot of young black boys wanna be like NBA star Lebron James and other NBA stars that have skipped college to go to the NBA but the sad reality is that a lot of them won't make it to the NBA.

When they see $$$$ that is all they care about. I mean, if you flash money to a kid who has not had cash, cars and women around him before, you know he is going to go for that.

MTV and those other shows don't help either when they have music videos that show artists showing off their "bling"...jewelry, cars, clothes, women, big houses, etc. The young kids think that is all life is about, getting more money so you can show off those things. Who has the biggest mansion? Who has the most fancy cars? Who has the most money? Who can get more women? You know what? Who cares? That is being stupid.

Your right Ireneparalegal. I wish these wack ass rappers would stop showing stuff like that in their videos and stop rapping about materialism because most rappers aren't wealthy and they don't know a damn thing about the music business. That's why so many of them get taken advantage of with their money because they don't know how these record companies operate. That's why a lot of them get lawyers to read their contracts for them because most of them don't know how to read because they have no interest in reading because reading to them is boring. The lawyers take advantage of their dumb asses too.

Another thing i wanna say about black NBA and NFL players is that most of them only go to college just to play basketball and football because they have dreams of going to the NBA and NFL. They have no interest in doing anything else for a job career and learning something in college because the NBA, NFL, money, materialism, chasing women is all that matters to them. That's why you also got black NBA players skipping college because they know they aren't good students. So why go to college when you got so many people on your d*ck telling you that you're a good high school athlete and you don't have to go to college to make it to the NBA? Sad reality is that most high school basketball players who go to the NBA won't have a long career because of a injury and they don't know anything about saving their money and spending their money wisely because they come from bad neighborhoods, bad schools and their parents never told them about saving and spending money wisely.

Only thing i don't like about Joseph is that he's a republican. Why would a black person wanna be a republican when republicans don't care about blacks especially poor blacks? He talks about politics in his book and he disses several actors who have dissed George Bush.
