Some Of The Debarge Family Members Got Issues - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I read a article about them in Vibe magazine awhile ago and i read that some of them have done drugs and been to prison. The lead singer Bobby Debarge of the group Switch died of aids. El Debarge recently got charged by a black woman for sexual harrassment at a concert at a black college in Michigan. I read about that in Jet magazine. El looks terrible in the recent pictures i've seen of him. He looks like he's been doing drugs and alcohol and he looks stressed out. I was even surprised to hear that Bunny who was the only female in Debarge group used to do drugs. She said that a lot of black entertainers in the 80's were doing drugs because it was the cool thing to do. That's a ignorant statement to say. So just because some people do ignorant things to fit in, that means you gotta do what ignorant people are doing to have some friends? Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha. She's ********. James Debarge who used to be married to Janet Jackson was accused by Janet of doing drugs and that's one of the reasons she divorced him. Chico Debarge has been to prison before for murder i think.

I am sure they had their issues, but all kinds of people have issues, it doesn't matter if you are famous or not, rich or poor, white or black, working or unemployed, etc. Drugs will find their way into anyone's life if that person allows it to happen or they find themselves in a situation where they feel they feel the need to do it.

But it is not right to knock people like the Debarge family for their problems because you can say that abt any family.

No it was for drug trafficking and conspricy to sell drugs, That was a big story bback then,

the Chico story was sad, considering it happened right at the height of DeBarge-mania. But... he did get the last laugh because he came back very strong in the late 90's and scored very well and became an r&b sex symbol at a point in time when the name DeBarge had become a punchline for being dated (like on the Buffy pilot, she points out "you look like DeBarge" to a vamp that was still dressed in 80's clothes).

Ireneparalegal, i get what your saying but the Debarge family should've known better that drugs and being a criminal is wrong. Debarge would probably still be doing music if it wasn't for their ignorance. I don't care how depressed or sad somebody's life is. Doing drugs doesn't help your life become better and sexually harrassing women is ignorant too which is what El Debarge did. I also read that Debarge got taken advantage of with their money by Motown records. See they should've been paying attention to their financial situation with their record company instead of doing drugs and other dumb sh*t. I love Debarge too so i was disappointed when i read this stuff about them.

I remember when they first came out, the DeBarge family was being promoted as being the next Jackson Family. Well, commercially speaking, they may not have lived up to that, but in terms of being dysfunctional, they have!

And one of them was briefly married to a teenaged Janet Jackson before her family stepped in and put the kibosh on that!
