Default Cheers season 9 is official!

Hi everybody! Season 9 of Cheers is offical! It's coming to dvd on April 29th, 2008! There are 25 1/2 hour episodes. Hopefully, they're all uncut and include the 200th. I'm so excited. This really made my day.
I hope true fans buy season 9 so they release 10 and 11 soon.

Although I'm not a die-hard fan of "Cheers", I like the series. And I plan to buy the 9th season on the day it comes out. This has really made my day. I think later. I'm gonna watch some of my DVDs again.

I think Paramount waiting a while between seasons 8 and 9 can only improve the sales for the 9th season. I say that angry that the company does that, but it makes us realize that we have to buy the seasons or they'll abandon the series.

I am still worried - will they include the Cheers 200th episode special? I have that on VHS from the original broadcast, but the tape is 17+ years old and who knows if it'll play, so I really want it included on the DVD.

You just can't pleas everyone, can ya?

Honestly, I think that they might. If it is counted as an episode, then I don't see why they wouldn't.

I am skeptical for good reason: the season 8 DVD set included an edited version of the episode "Bar Wars III: The Return of Tecumseh." So I will treat this as if I am from Missouri: Show Me.

I didn't know that episode was edited! Why in the world would they do that and what part(s) were skipped?

I posted the following message July 7, 2006, in the thread "An edited DVD episode?"

I thought that the point of DVDs for a classic series was to give us, the real fans, the complete, uncut episodes as originally broadcast, not the edited-for-syndication versions. Having now completed watching season 8 on DVD, I noticed a major cut in "Bar Wars III: The Return of Tecumseh." In the final act, after Cliff mentions the movie "Failsafe," his (very funny) explanation of the plot of the film has been completely edited out. It goes on (an estimate, based on memory of the original broadcast) for at least 30 seconds, but it is not in the DVD version. Hey, Paramount and/or CBS Home Video, what gives?

Wow, that is amazing. I just don't see why they would even bother editing one episode if the rest were unedited. Seems silly and pointless.

Box Art:

It looks like it will be an Amaray case like most other Paramount DVDs. They kept using digipacks for the Frasier sets, why not continue them for Cheers too?

The story of the Bar Wars III edit reminds me, this IS CBS we're talking about, so I can't help but fear how they'll further butcher the episodes (seeing as EVERY one of their releases has That Warning and has made good on it, from what I've heard.)

Was Season 8 before or after CBS DVD took over releasing Paramount Television series?
