Default Barrowman slams secret homosexual stars

By WENN world entertainment news - 1 hour 42 minutes ago

Actor John Barrowman has slammed gay stars who hide their sexuality in a bid to advance their careers.

The openly-gay Torchwood star believes sexuality has no bearing on the quality of roles actors are offered, and insists it's "just sad" they refuse to come out of the closet.

He tells The Stage, "If it (being gay) has been a problem, no-one ever told me so.

"I know people who lie about being gay because they think it will affect their work chances. That is just sad."

What people choose to share with others is THEIR decision, not the newspaper's, the paparazzi or fellow colleagues. Besides, there are a lot of other facets to a person than their sexuality, and often others want us to focus on the many other sides. This s/b respected.

I agree. It's why I can't stand Perez Hilton. He thinks it's his duty to drag people out if they don't feel ready to do it yet, and I hate that reasoning. These people aren't doing anything to anyone; and while I'd love to see more people come out and be proud of themselves, forcing them out pretty much IMHO just makes the problem worse.

well, like I said before in the Jodie Foster thread, and I still believe it. The more and more celebrities who come out and say "I'm gay", the more of a non-issue it becomes. The gay community has long since overcome the Boy George/Village People stigma/stereotype because of the celebrities who have come out since, making straight people realize we're not all the same. If every gay or bisexual celebrity was out, it would not even be an issue if ____ was spotted holding hands with his boyfriend in public. Granted, there will always be people who hate gays and consider Elton John and Ellen Degeneres to be ambassadors of Satan, but the more people are cultured, the more passe those opinions become and they're made to look like ignorant fools.

Isn't John Barrowman the guy who was on Titans? Anyway, I agree that one's orientation is their own business, and if/when they come out should be their decision.

A person's sexuality is their own business. A lot of people are all about CHOICE, until they disagree with it. There's nothing more personal than what's happening in a person's bedroom. Nobody has an obligation to anyone in regards to what they reveal about themselves. That trumps everything.

You are damned if you do, damned if you don't. If a celeb comes forward abt his/her sexual orientation, they are out of the closet and trying to make a stance for gay rights, gay this and that. If they choose NOT to tell the world their sexual orientation, they are hiding it, they are embarrassed, they are afraid, etc.

It is not an issue until it is talked abt one way or the other.

exactly, i mean, we don't talk about people in general, nor judge them according to their race, gender, age or nationality even, so why should one's sexual orientation be an issue to anyone? besides, nobody wants to really share their personal life with the rest of the world, but sadly because of the society we are living in today people will always gossip, make assumptions in order to get on his/her backs and make them confess, and that is horrible.
one's personal life should be personal and should remain personal and that's that
