Default Characters You Were Surprised to Find Out They Weren't In the Whole Show

I think that long title says it all.

When I first started watching the "Wings" reruns on USA back in the 1990s, I assumed Antonio (Tony Shalhoub) had been with the show since the beginning. I was shocked to find out he didn't join the cast until the third season.

I wasn't aware that Sandra left "227." And I thought I watched that show all the way to the end. So when I found out she left (just recently, actually) I was shocked.

Starting "Married with Children" from the fifth season, I was surprised when I saw the pilot for the first time and realized that Jefferson was not always on the show. I've come to like Steve more, but that's not the point. There was a time when I thought Jefferson was on the show since episode 1.

I always thought Sandra was also on 227 the entire show, but I just found out she was recurring in season 5 when it was airing on TV One.

I always thought Al was in Home Improvement it's entire run, but I was surprised when I bought the season 2 DVD, and his name wasn't in the credits.

When I first started watching Three's Company (it was in it's 7th season on ABC) I always thought Terri was the third roommate from the beginning of the show. But one day, it was on at like 5pm on ABC, and I saw Suzanne Somers was the first roommate.

I was born in 1979, so by the time I started watching Facts Of Life as a kid, Jo was already well-established as a lead on the show. Then around 1989 or 1990, I saw a rerun on WGN that was called The Facts Of Life, but yet had a bunch of random girls and no Jo, then I found out she didn't come in until season 2.

I was surprised to learn that Gladys and Abner Kravitz were not on Bewitched its entire run. They were never seen in the final season (1971-72).

Al was on Home Improvement the entire run. It's just that he wasn't on the opening credits for the first couple of seasons.

Alexis on "Dynasty." When the show first went to SOAPnet in 2002, people were talking about how they couldn't wait for her to show up and such, and I had always thought she'd been there from the beginning.

I always thought Nellie and Mary were on "Little House on the Prairie" for its whole run (up until New Beginning, at least), but was shocked one day when I was about 12 or 13 and didn't even see Mary run down the prairie in the opening.

I always thought Florence Johnston was always a regular on The Jeffersons, but then I realized eventually when watching the show for the first time with a good memory, she wasn't a regular character on the show until season 4.

That's news to me.

Make a thread, learn something.

Speaking of "Bewitched" when my older sister was young, she didn't know that there were two different Darrins. She just thought he looked different in color, lol.

Also, I know some people who weren't aware there were two Marilyns on "The Munsters."

I always thought Clayton Endicott III was on Benson for the whole run, only to find out later on that he didn't start until season 2.

I used to think that Radar was on M*A*S*H for the entire run and was shocked when I found out that he left at the beginning of the 8th season.

I always knew that The Ropers weren't on Three's Company for the entire run, but I was shocked when I started looking at episode guides and found out that they were only on the show for 2 1/4 seasons(51 episodes). For some reason I always thought they were on the show for much longer.

I just found out recently that Mrs. Drysdale wasn't on "THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES" the last couple seasons of it.

When I used to watch MASH as a kid, I thought Col. Potter, BJ and Charles were always there. I used to be so confused when they'd talk about Frank or Trapper. (This was also back when I thought the show took place in Vietnam.)

Al just wasn't in the first season theme:

Here you can see the season 1 theme with out him
http://youtube.com/watch?v=4geRyZ8vXn4

and the season 2 theme with him

Back to topic, I used to watch this when I was younger, and started getting back into it. I looked it up online and was shocked to find JTT left in the last season.

I'm sorry, I meant when I bought the FIRST season set, I was surprised his name was on the opening credits. I'm a huge Home Improvement fan, and I knew he was in the show the entire run, just recurring in season 1.
