Default When will this show get released officially on dvd in the US?

because there is very little activity on this board. i understand that there have been very few posts and threads on caroline in the city on this site, but that is mainly because this show has still not been officially released in stores in america. its somewhat strange that this show- an american based show that is- was released way back in the UK, 4 years ago on dvd, and yet in the US it hasn't been sold and released on region 1. perhaps the US fans can go on and vote for CITC to be released on dvd by going on tvshowsondvd.com

I think that the last poster has raised some "very" interesting points on this thread! In the first place, I am "really" anxious to see this show released on DVD in this country! In the past, I have posted several message on this page about my love for "Return of Sudsy Guy". Well, being that the show was abruptly canciled after the first showing of this epiosde, I only got to see it once. During the brief times that this show was in syndication, I have looked for this episode but was never able to find it. I would pay "top dollar" for a chance to see Lea Thompson swinging her hips again! I would also "love" to hear the first few verses of "Deck the Halls" expressed through her "adorable" voice! In addition to this particular page, another one on this site that has gotten "very" little action recently has been "Gimme a Break!" Being that the last poster is from England, there is something that I would be very interested in knowing from her. Was this show ever syndicated to the UK? I think that it is very debatable because of how specific to the United States a lot of the humor is. However, I know that they have it in Canada because that is where my second season set of DVDs came from. If the most recent poster is reading this response, please tell me if you are at all familiar with "Gimme a Break!"

hi smartboy!

well the show was shown a lot in the UK on satalite and cable back in the 90s when it was on, although they don't show it anymore. as for whether the show was syndicated, well, all but 1 of the episodes- jodie and the stick- were televised. if you are interested in getting the other dvds, then my advice to you would be to purchase the other seasons, which are on region 2 and buy yourself a multi-region dvd player. as its multi-regional, it will play dvds from any country. caroline in the city is on region 2 format only and region 2 is uk, european based. that way you'll be able to watch the show and you don't have to wait for it to come out in the US

Although I appreciate the fast response from the English woman that started this thread, I think that she and I have some degree of a communication gap. After I had confirmed that "none" of the seasons of "Caroline in the City" have made it to DVD in the United States, I than moved the topic of my post to "Gimme a Break!" This is the show about which I was curious about whether or not it was every shown in England. I am under the impression that when I said that my second season DVDs came from Canada, she thought that I was still referring to "Caroline in the City". One of the things that makes me think that is that she said that it was on cable and satalite in the nineties when the show was on. "Gimme a Break" was shown first run starting in 1981 and ended in 1987. My guess would be that when this show was on prime-time, satelite TV was not even invented! When I said that I had my doubts about whether this show was ever shown in Great Britain, I said this because a lot of the humor in this series was African American style. Although I know that England has more than a handful of black people, it is my understand that most of them are decendents of people from Jimaca. I hope that I spelled the name of that country right! In any event, these peoples' culture and heritage is very different than that of the decendents of slaves in this country. If the starter of this thread would like to learn more about this series, she can go to that show's page of this site or to one of "countless" other sites on the World Wide Web! If this is not enough, she can type in the name of the late "Nell Carter". She was one of the stars of that show.

i already knew that nell carter was in gimmie a break; i actually thought you were referring to caroline in the city and not that show, as in gimmie a break. also, off-topic she also appeared in hangin' with mr cooper in seasons 3 and 4 respectively

I am "very" happy that we, pretty much cleared up the communication gap regarding which show we were writing about! However, the starter of this thread never really made clear whether or not they do or ever did have "Gimme a Break!" in England. She claimed that she knew that Nell Carter was one of the stars but she did not say where she learned that. I am pretty sure that the only countries that have ever put any episodes of this series on DVD are the United States and Canada. However, it is possible that people from other countries have seen it in syndication. Also, I would "really" like to see more people post on the "Caroline in the City" page! I really miss this show and I would like to stimulate more conversation about it. Incedintially, I have also seen "very" little action on the "Gimme a Break!" page of this site in the recent past! In the past couple of weeks, I have started a "lot" of different threads and gotton "zero" responses to any of them! Shortly after I post this message, I will go over to that section and see if anything has changed within the past couple of hours. Take care!

i don't think that gimme a break ever aired in the UK. as for how i learned that nell carter was on that show, despite the fact i never seen it, well its appears as if people on this site mention nell cater having a role in gimme a break and so that's where i got my info from

um actually seeing as i am from the uk too, i already have all the seasons of this show. the caroline in the city board is somewhat quiet, alas there has been very little activity as i mentioned. i originally posted this thread in the assumption that CITC will be released on dvd in the US officially and that there will be a lot of people discussing the episodes on here but so far it hasn't come out and there very few posts on the show

Well, the "Caroline In The City" board will probably start heating up because the announcement has been made official! "Caroline In The City: Season One" will be released to dvd on August 12th. You can go to tvshowsondvd.com for more information! All I can say is that it is about time!!!
