Superman Returns star Brandon Routh has been dropped from the movie franchise's sequel - along with director Bryan Singer, according to reports.
A younger Superman will appear in Superman: Man Of Steel - effectively replacing 28-year-old Routh - as the story focuses on the superhero's relationship with fellow DC Comics characters The Justice League. Moviemaker Singer is "too busy" working on other projects to commit to the sixth movie in the superhero franchise, reports Variety. It is hoped shooting on Superman: Man Of Steel will begin after the Hollywood writers strike is resolved. |

Wel it looks like we can put Brandon Routh in the "Where Are the Now" file.
Looks like they have more faith in a Justice League movie than another Superman movie. And for good reason. Superman Returns was horrible, plus it cost about 300 milion bucks to make, grossed about 391 million. Do the math. The studio barely broke even. Bryan Singer probably knows better than to stay on this sinking ship, whixh is why he's now "too busy" to work on another Superman movie. |

Anyway... It's ironic that Singer gladly walked (make that ran) away from the X Men franchise when they dangled "Superman Returns" in his face, and now all of a sudden, he doesn't want to do Superman anymore. I just checked on the IMDB and he's still working on "Valkyrie" with Tom Cruise, plus he has two more movies to direct in 2008/9, one of them is the long awaited Harvey Milk biopic, so yes, he is "busy" right now.

Does "Superman Returns" even merrit a sequel? I mean I was going to watch it even though I hated SR. But with a different director and different star, it just seems pointless. Leave the Superman movies in the past with Christopher Reeves as the Man of Steel. I don't see any need for another movie.
BTW, I'm still ticked off that they're recasting Frank Castle in the upcoming Punisher sequel. I loved Thomas Jane in the role. I'm not even going to see the sequel with some new guy. Not even if he "punishes" a different Sweathog this time.

Wow. I must be the only person who liked Superman Returns. I thought Brandon Routh was a great Superman, and Bryan Singer's direction was great. It felt a lot like Richard Donner's Superman, which is a good thing.
The only thing I didn't like was Kate Bosworth as Lois. |

So, you were 15-16 when Superman left for Krypton? I don't care how super you are Kal-El, we have laws against messing with teenagers here on Earth.
