hEY HAPPY DAys fans. I hope that you all are enjoying the dvd, i no i am, hopfully cbs/paramount is still clearing more of the original music and working on the original editing scenes which is a must especially with the three part episode of fonzie loves pinky. Speaking of potsie and the band singing allot on the show in the later seasons did anybody ever recall hearing the band singing at the hop, happy birthday sweet 16, calendar girl, little richard rip it up or tuttuie fruity some of buddy hollies songs and other songs that they covered which was shown on the orginal network but not in syndication, since i have cbs/paramount email address i might just email them, peace.

Not to be rude or anything, but it's clear that from hear on in, the episodes will be edited. They'll only clear music that doesn't cost a fortune to license so it's not like they have a choice. For them to have to pay so much for music would mean that the DVDs would have to either sell like hotcakes (which they're not) or be so expensive that we'd be spending $100 or more for a set. Nothing is going to change this unless the music industry stops being greedy. End of story.

I know this is frustrating as hell but it's just how things are. I understand your frustration, but clearly there are more important things to get upset about in life. We have troops dying needlessly in Iraq (at least that's my opinion; feel free to feel differently), the economy is in the toilet (which affects people buying things that are non-essentials, like DVD releases), gas prices are through the roof, people are without health care and are being penalized for it in some states, and many others are losing their jobs. It just seems odd that time and time again, you and the same other people gripe about edited episodes like it's the biggest problem in the world. It isn't, plain and simple.

Again, I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but what we have here is the best of a bad situation. It's either that or don't release anything at all. Since I don't have cable (it's too expensive and I'm hardly home when my favorites are on anyway), the DVDs I buy are the only times I get to see my shows, and yes, I'd prefer to have them complete and unedited, but TV shows are a pass time. They're not the body and blood of Christ. All of us should try to keep that in perspective, no?

Hey ED i appericate your input on hd3, but lets just get one thing clear here, when i posted the comment up too the hd fans, all i was asking them how are they enjoying there dvd of season 3, and all i was saying is that if cbs/paramount is going to continue the other release they are going to have too address the editing issues, especailly when the get too the three part episode of fonzie loves pinky which i would love too see, as for the music issuess i am glade that they address the problem for this season because they have been taking allot of heat for the results from season 2, and paramount cbs knows that if they do not show the fans this classic show as it was shown on ABC then they no for a fact that they will not continue with the sells, i spoke with amazon.com and they told me that the dvd is doing much better and fans has been ordering the dvd's like crazy, cbs/paramount knows that it is what the fans want too see. I no that it is costing them billions of dollors just too clear the songs, but lets be real here happy days was known for its 50's like hit and i agree with you, but if happy days was just a regular show then fans would not care about it as much , but the show was based on the life and times of the 50's and cbs/paramount knows without some of the music intact it will mess up the editing footages which has not been seen in ages, and they no what the fans expects they cannot affored too start changing direction now, that is why i appericate todd and pavan getting the reviews for season 3, because too be honest with you, i started not too buy season 3 until i heard that cbs/paramount for some kind of way got and cleared all of the songs that was not heard in season 2 and the songs that the band covered which is not seen in syndication, again cbs/paramount does read the reviews and comments on amazon.com you have your opinion and i have mine as long as they try too keep the series intact then i am cool with that, but again they must address the editing issues, i love my happy days season 3 but season 4 and the rest of the show if they continue to release it be better. Whoa, your post is sure hard to read, and I'm not trying to nitpick either. My point with making the post in the first place is that I think we should have a bit of perspective when it comes to DVDs in general, not just Happy Days. There are so many problems in the world right now, not to mention the rest of the US, and without fail, time and time again you continue to moan and groan about the music issue. We get it, and dude, I even agree with you, but you've got to let it go. You keep repeating yourself ad nauseum, almost as if every time you post about this topic, it's something new when in fact it's a rehash.

Yes, the show was a 50s show, and yes, it SHOULD be intact, but we both know why it isn't and to constantly bemoan the issue as if it's only the fault of Paramount isn't fair. The country itself is in a recession and it's bound to get worse. Things like that ripple effect into people not being able to afford things like DVDs, which in turn means the companies selling the DVDs don't make as much, which in turn means they have to finagle a way to still be able to put out the product but also turn a profit so that they can exist as a company. It's all about economics, but you fail to see that.

There's always a bigger picture, and I wish you'd start to see that. Yes, the show deserves a better treatment, but constantly complaining about Paramount, as if they'd want to screw with their best shows on purpose, accomplishes nothing. There are other factors involved and if you really want to solve the situation, think about tackling those other factors.

Telling people to complain to Paramount, with the expectation that they'll eventually give in, is pointless. They're not going to. They tried to do it right with Season 1 and lost big time money due to music costs. We're lucky they didn't give up on the show entirely. But you seem to think that constant emails to them, and endless posts on these boards, is going to somehow convince them that they should eat their profits and suffer a loss all for the sake of preserving the show's integrity. It isn't going to happen, period.

Would you sell the show in a way that guaranteed a loss in thousands every time a season set came out? By the time the whole show was released (not to mention its sister show, Laverne & Shirley), you'd be so far in the hole your company would go under. No, I don't think you'd do it, and I sure as hell wouldn't either. So why expect anything different from Paramount?

And would you appreciate bunches of ungrateful fans breathing down your neck, complaining about the releases when you've tried to put out the product in a way that satisfies both consumer and seller? I think not.

Again, you missed the point. Not to be nitpicky, but based on your grammar and spelling, I think it's safe to say that you'll continue to miss the points I make simply because your reading skills (as indicated by your writing skills) are a bit wanting. I don't mean that as a cheap shot though. I'm just trying to make sense of why you get the wrong point over and over again. I never said you couldn't post what you wanted to post. Thank you for stating what you did so tactfully. The DVDs aren't perfect, but that won't stop me, or 98% of the fans from buying them; period, end of story. It would be great if CBS/Paramount could somehow get us the original tunes, but they need to make a profit off of these products. Their main goal, like any other major corporations, is to make money. If the DVDs don't sell well, the chance for future seasons to be released will be slim to none.

It would be great if the DVDs had all of the original footage, beautifully remastered, the original music, and cast interviews, bloopers, or scenes that were edited out prior to the show's first airing--but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the show use less and less specific 50s era music in the later seasons, as in the case of Laverne & Shirley? We may get far enough in the releases where we will have COMPLETE seasons since the music licensing costs will be less of an issue by then.

Could this be a possibility?

I've been trying to tell studd about the economics of the whole situation ever since the day season two was released, but nothing ever seems to get through. I stopped trying. He seems to think that since Paramount is a billion-dollar corporation, they can afford to put out unedited releases with all music intact knowing that they probably will lose money.

And again i am not going too change my mind for anybody, so get over it, life is too short, You are right i do have a tendency of repeating myself, but you all do not no that they do not make classic television shows like this no more and too see it on dvd you want too see if possible everything that is not shown in syndication, and i am right as a fan the editing footages should be address if they do decide to continue with these release, again its what the public wants too see.and anybody would tell you that. And anglemark is right to a certain point but i am only going too say this one time and one time only, cbs will be losing money reguardless if the public stops buying there dvds. So get it together people ok. Now that i made my point which i do not really care if you all agree lets talk about something else that we can all relate too like the new year.
