I've been watching the show lately. I had never seen it before, and I'm enjoying the show. I would really appreciate it if anyone could answer a few questions for me. I know the basic premise of the show. Tia and Tamera were separated at birth. They were adopted by Ray and Lisa, and met at the mall. My questions are these:
Why were they separated, and not adopted together? Why were they given up for adoption? Did Ray or Lisa have spouses when they adopted them, or did they adopt as single parents? Do their biological parents surface on the show? How old were the girls when they met? How is authority and discipline handled? Does Ray have a say in Tia's upbringing. Does Lisa have a say in Tamera's life? Is there an attraction between Ray and Lisa? If so, do Ray and Lisa end up together in the end? |

Sister, Sister was one of my favorite shows from 8th grade on. I watched it from the very beginning! I'm about the same age as the Mowry twins, so I still have a soft spot for them and the show. Here are the answers to the questions that I know:
The twins were adopted separately, and they were 14 when they finally met. Ray mentioned a wife who had long since passed away. Lisa never mentioned a husband, so I guess she was able to adopt as a single parent. The parents pretty much disciplined their own child, but sometimes Ray and Lisa banded together when both twins did something stupid. The twins did eventually find their birth dad, but their birth mom had died shortly after the twins were born (that was toward the end of the series run in 1999). Ray and Lisa loathed each other at first sight, but eventually became friendly. They did begin to develop an attraction, but it was dropped for some reason. Lisa ended up marrying another guy in the finale. So there you have it, Janice!! I would so love to see this show come to DVD, the ABC episodes anyway. For some reason, I was never crazy about the WB episodes. |

Thanks Monika! I appreciate it. That sure filled in the blanks. It's a charming little show. I wish I caught it the first time around. It has a fantastic cast.

I saw a scene that had me LMAO. It's the one where Lisa has a crush on the guy who works in the grocery store. She keeps going there to impress him. She spits on him the first time and then gets her scarf caught in a moving chicken rotisserie the second time. Finally, she knocks over a pile of apples, causing a massive domino effect, which wiped out the entire store. It was a very unrealistic scene, but hilarious just the same.

As I understand it, their mother died when they were babies, and then they were adopted, but unfortuneately to different parents. Just like the twins have a black mother and white father in real life, that was the way with their biological parents on the show.
I think Lisa had more say over Tamera than what Ray had over Tia. I guess it was because Tamera needed a mother figure more than what Tia needed a father figure. |

Ray: Like what? Tamera: Like...cramps. Ray (awkward laugh): We can talk about cramps...later.

It might be. He's in the right age bracket. But I'm not sure.
