Default What is it about the Scotland episode

that turns you off. I have to say I have been watching ILL for MANY years and I have NEVER like the Scotland episode but I never really knew why. And I don't even know that I can explain it now. I've noticed alot of people on this board mentions that episode and that they don't like it. So my question is, can you explain why you don't like it.

I love it, its my fave ep, so, you got ME......I mean, how can anyone NOT love a song with lyrics like "I'm in love with a dragon's dinner...a dragon's delectable dinner..."? Frankly, i think everyone else here never took the time to REALLY watch/listen to this show....which was a holiday special, btw.
I mean, yes its different, but, when they did basically the same format on the Carol Burnette show (Short comedic lampooning musicals), they won Emmys cause everyone loved it!

The Mertzes' themselves are funny and funny looking as the two-headed dragon, BUT THAT IS IT. I didn't care to watch a 24 minute musical. It was a dream and a horrible one at that. Yes, ILL had many musical moments, but they didn't clog the entire episode. It was boring.

As for your comment Mikey abt no one really taking the time to watch the episode...BELIEVE ME, I HAVE SEEN IT OVER 10,000 TIMES by the time I hit 20 years old. I seen enough of it. I can't remember the last time I actually watched that episode in full or in part.

I never liked it because it was not that funny, same as Drafted. It was a musical, which i hated as a kid, now i've learned to appreciate it lately, especially after seeing it incredibly beautiful and striking colors on the ILL Boxed set Bonus disc. I now LOVE it. It's still not that funny but at least i know now why they did it, it seems that other networks were running musical type spectaculars opposite I Love Lucy, like Peter Pan and the popularity of those specials made the producers think they should have their own, so they did this show. I did not like it because i watched Lucy to laugh out loud, not to be entertained by musical numbers, but i agree it's like seeing a variety show featuring the Lucy cast, same as on Carol BURNETT's show.

Yea, I never liked this episode either. It wasn't really funny and even though I'm of Scottish heritage, it just creeped me right out. Lucy looked great as a Scot though - Ricky sure stood out like a sore thumb!

I never liked Queen of the Gypsies either, for the same reason but that one too has grown on me over the decades, never worked for Drafted though, LOL!

I don't really care for the episode cause it was out of their ordinary story. I also don't care for Ricky's scottish accent, LOL. It was all too unreal.

I know but they (the writers) knew that would be good for a few laughs, same as him trying Irish in the barbershoop quartet one.

That was funny (Queen of the Gypsies). Hearing that lisp of Lucy's and her hair all ratted. Even though we were watching a musical, it didn't take up the entire episode and it was all abt Lucy's women's club not wanting her to sing in that play, Lucy doing the writing of that play (the Inn that was by the River Out ) and having the play cut short because of the fact that Lucy wrote a check that bounced. Seeing the men take away the costumes and the props and sets away is funny.

The Scotland episode was just a bad dream...and a bad episode.

It was like the bad dream that Pamela had in DALLAS. She thought Bobby was killed and that whole season was just her dream.

Believe it or not, that is how much I can't stand that episode, I have yet to see it! I guess from the reviews you all have talked abt the color episode, I should watch it and post my thoughts on it.
