Question Women Wearing Wigs?

Wigs for woman have been a staple in the entertainment industry for decades. Mother Nature needs a little help at times, particulary with older woman. Here's a few.

Willona on Good Times. She was sporting a different wig with just about every visit to the Evan's home.

The Jeffersons. It's more of a question of who didn't wear one. Louise, Mother Jefferson, and Helen.

Dallas. Joan Collins aka Alexis Carrington had a wig for every dress with shoulder pads, lol.

Chrissy Snow on Three's Company wore mega extentions to achieve her multi-ponytails, and other various piled styles.

Aunt Esther always wore a wig on Sanford & Son.

Any others. Sitcoms, dramas, singers, soaps....

I heard on Friends, Lisa Kudrow's hair was alot shorter than Phoebe Buffay's so Lisa would wear extensions.

It wasn't permanent but Jan Brady wore a wig on an episode. So did Samantha on Sex & the City, when she wanted to catch Richard cheating on her.

Question

Eva Gabor started her own wig co. but I'm not certain if she wore one on Green Acres.

Katey Segal probably wore a wig for "Married With Children" to achieve Peg Bundy's ginormous hairdo, although in the first season Katey's hairstyle was pretty normal looking.

The reason why Suzanne Sommers had so many extensions was because her hairstylist demaged her hair when he was on the phone talking. They did that just cover her bald spot.

Don't forget about Irene Ryan wearing a wig to acheive that elderly Granny look. She wasn't that ancient when she started Beverly Hills Billies. Not to mention Donna Douglas always wore a wig, too, as Elly May.

I don't think Roxie Roker of the Jeffersons wore a wig. I believe it was her actual hair. If that was a wig then she wore it well. Louise, on the other hand, some of the wigs she wore were too obvious and wiggy looking.

The women on Mama's Family wore wigs. I thought that it was Naomi's real hair but later on I found out that it was a wig.

Polly Holliday's hair on "Alice" and "Flo" was a wig, without a doubt. Very rarely did you see Flo's hair out of a beehive.

And of course, Alison Arngrim wore that hideous wig as Nellie Oleson on "Little House on the Prairie." Even when Nellie left and replaced by adopted sister Nancy, Alison Balson had to wear the wig too.

In the early weeks of "Dark Shadows," Kathryn Leigh Scott wore a blonde wig as Maggie Evans. After a while, they let her go natural, thank god, because her hair was beautiful. That wig was not.

Carolyn Jones wore long black wigs while playing the role of Morticia (Addams Family).

She did wear wigs in the earlier seasons, but rather infrequently- once she changed her hairstyle in 1979 it was always her own hair. She must have had either a better hairstylist than the other women in the cast or her hair type took better to the relaxers than the other women in the show. Marla Gibbs wore her own hair at times and wigs at other times.

Barbara Feldon in Get Smart by her own admission nearly always wore a wig of some type.

Kim Fields in Living Single wore many types of wigs and it was a running joke in the series.

Estelle Getty in the Golden Girls.

Agnes Moorehead in Bewitched.

Denise Nicholas wore wigs occassionally in Room 222.

Diahann Carroll in Julia and just about everything else I have ever seen her act in.

Raquel Welch - on her role on Police Woman

Pamela Sue Martin - on her roles on "Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys Mysteries" and epecially on "Dynasty." I even read a magazine about her wearing a wig to cover up her bald spots she inherited from her father and from some much stress she suffered.

I recently watched a clip on YT w/ Isabel Sanford on an episode of the short-lived 1985 game show called "All-Star Blitz" and she was sporting her real whitish-grayish hair on that show. She also alledgedly wore a wig on her guest appearance on "Roseanne" as well.
