January 2, 2008 -- WITH the race for the White House heating up, what's one more candidate thrown into the mix? No, it's not the Independent front runner you think it is . . . It's Springfield's own Ralph Wiggum, son of Police Chief Clancy Wiggum.

During "The Simpsons" episode Sunday night, the people of Springfield enter Ralph into the election after they have rejected the other primary candidates.

It wouldn't be the first time that a fictional character ran for President. In
fact, according to Bob Smith, Howdy Doody got more write-in votes in the
1948 election than third-party candidate Henry Wallace!
