LOS ANGELES - Tom Bosley wants to show he still has it at 80. Last year, the actor best known for playing Richie Cunningham's father on "Happy Days" co-starred with Michael Learned in a seven-month national tour of "On Golden Pond." Now he's starting off the new year with a starring role in the TV movie "Charlie & Me," airing Saturday on the Hallmark Channel. Bosley plays a charismatic grandfather who, despite suffering a near-fatal heart attack, is determined to mend the relationship between his workaholic, widowed son and his feisty 12-year-old granddaughter before he dies. "Although I love my home, my family and everything about my non-work life, I also want to keep acting as long as God will let me," said Bosley, who played Father Frank Dowling on "Father Dowling Mysteries." "It's what still drives me," he said in a statement issued to the cable channel. "I want to prove to myself that I can still do it." |

I've always enjoyed Tom Bosley. I also remember him as the GLAD trash bag spokesman and the voice of David the Gnome (a cartoon that ran on Nick back in the early '90s). God bless him!!

I saw Tom Bosley in a Perry Mason movie. It was about a nun who was accused of killing a priest who was presumed to be her lover. I think Tom played a priest.

He was also funny as the harried family doctor in the 1968 Lucille Ball/Henry Fonda flick Yours, Mine & Ours. He shared a small scene with his then 5-year-old future Father Dowling co-star, Tracy Nelson.

More power to him! It's always inspiring when veteran actors can still find work (and are still able to work).

He is 80 years old. Do you expect them to look the same throughout the whole year? People change. Look at Charlotte Rae. Looks like a grandma compare to her Diff'rent Strokes or Facts of Life Mrs. Garrett. Look at Conrad Bain. In the Diff'rent Strokes DVD, you could tell how much he aged over the years. People don't remain the same at all. They change. It's gravity, people. Get over it. End of rant....

I didn't want to make a new thread so I did a search for Tom Bosley...
He must have really not minded not getting much screen time the last few years of Happy Days.. I you see the theme credits, he's at the beginning for a few years with Marion then the last few years, Marion is near the top and poor Tom is like at the end... |
