Yes I do but unfortunately my DVR does not have a "pause" button and I'm stuck with the commercials. Trying to download them to my PC and edit out the commercials has been a major pain in the neck. Is there a simple program someone can recommend?

(Sorry--not trying to hijack your thread!)....

But yes, I do record some shows onto DVD.

I did with my memaw (grandma). She would tape 'The Facts of Life' back when N@N had it. And when I could come over, I'd tape it while I watched it and watch it again after she went to bed. But I don't record now.

I tape shows that I dont think will ever come on dvd such as Mama's Family the later episodes and Kenan and Kel. I also wish that I could tape those earlier episodes of Nick in the early 90's

I RECORD (not "TAPE"-that's what you do with a VCR. This is 2008, for gods sake!!! ) "THE AMAZING RACE" on Sundays; since I go to my parents for dinner then. And, I'll sometimes record a movie off of TCM (the only good movie channel anymore) and a show off of The History Channel on my DV-R.

I tape Homicide: Life on the Street, a local show and The View, but that's when I can't see them when they are on. If I like a certain scene in an episode of any show I tape it. The DVR is great. I also tape a song I like if it comes on the Satellite radio on the TV. I also tape movies on there.

I have literally hundreds of video tapes--so I'm not about to convert to DVD!
... not this late in my life. Hopefully, the VCR won't become obsolete at least
in my lifetime!

Is that a lot? I have about 25,000 that I'm converting to DVD. I want to see if I can get it done before I die first.

Nope! I don't have quite that many (thank goodness)!

Good luck with that.

Right now I'll just be happy when I can afford to buy a DVD/VCR
combo to watch my videos and DVDs on. My VCR still works fine
(I use it virtually every day), but the DVD drive on my computer
went south a couple months ago. That doesn't bother me too
much; I only have dozens (not hundreds) of DVDs.
