If Quincy Jones was the brains behind Michael Jackson, we've got to give the same props to Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis. Janet's music career was going nowhere until they came along. Could we safely call Control Janet's Thriller??

well, Quincy's production skills didn't begin and end with Michael Jackson, so he deserves to be considered since he did so much in the 60's, 70's and 80's.

Jam and Lewis have lost their magic and it's probably a good thing that Janet had ditched them seemingly for good. They've lost their ability to produce a good uptempo song

That's a good point. I'm not really familiar with Jam & Lewis' work outside of Janet, except they did hook up with Mariah Carey earlier in the decade.

As for Q, I've also enjoyed his work with James Ingram ("Just Once", "One Hundred Ways", "Yah Mo B There", etc.). He also wrote the unforgettable theme song to Sanford & Son.
