My memory is kind of fuzzy on this one, but I'm sure someone remembers. A middle aged man was shot in the head from behind while he worked at his desk on his computer. I think he had a hit put out on him. Does anyone know the status on this one?

I do remember a segment that had a man being fatally shot at his desk at his house. The victim's name was Theodore 'T.K.' Harty, who ran a restaurant in Georgia. He was murdered in 1977 (there were no home computers back then). Harty was played by a young looking actor, so I would assume that Harty could have been in his 30s when he was murdered. John Mooney, who ordered the hit, escaped from prison in 1980, but was captured in 1989. Elmo Florence, actual trigger man, was recently released from prison. http://www.onlineathens.com/stories/...71229035.shtml Is it possible that you are thinking about the T.K. Hardy case? |

Kane, It's possible that is the one. I recall the shooting happening from outside of the house and he was shot in the head through his office window and died instantly. That has to be the right one!
Thanks. |

I thought they killed T.K. Hardy at home....
I'm probably mixing up all my UM segments again. It's been known to happen on occasion.

Lilmissd: I recall a segment that involved at least part of what you described. In 1990, UM aired a segment about the 1967 murder of Illinois policeman Ralph Probst. His unknown killer shot him from outside the house. The fatal bullet went through the window. But Mr. Probst was in the kitchen when this happened. |

James, the 140 dollar bit was never even proven, no money was proven to have changed hands in this case. I mean, I cant believe anyone would be that stupid to only charge 140 dollars if they were a hit man. I have no doubt that Florence did kill TK Hardy though I do question whether it was pre meditated, Florence also has been saying for a long time now, that John Mooney is innocent and that there was no conspiracy, UM actually distorted a lot of facts in this case, Mooney was not even in Georgia the night of the murder, he was in Ohio attending his dad's funeral, his dad John Mooney Sr had passed away the same day that Hardy gave Mooney the eviction notices.
Yes, Kane is right, I posted a seperate thread on this, but Kane beat me to it, Florence was paroled in 2007, after having been turned down 11 times, the 12th time was the charm and he was released from prison on December 26th, Florence is now 76 years old and in frail health, he now walks with a cane. But for years now Florence has been saying Mooney was innocent. |
