Default Wouldn't you say Mel did a lot of underhanded stuff?

Threatening to fire his waitresses if they didn't date his loser of a friend, refusing to pay the girls overtime while they were on the clock with that time clock, and telling them not to have another job and who to go out with. Looks like Mel had a case with either the labor board, or the Better Business Bereau. Thw waitresses were too afraid of reporting him.

Sounds like Mel was made to be the kind of boss no one wanted to have in real life and also, he was at times trying to behave and sound like their father.

He wanted to protect them but he went overboard sometimes, especially with Vera.

That time clock thingy was overboard because the girls did a lot of work for Mel without getting paid and so forth.

OSHA would had got involved as well as Better Business Bureau. Plus Mel would had been turned in for sexual harassment. With the law like it is with employer and employee the employer could be named in a lawsuit as well as the place of employment.

On the other hand, the waitresses would had been out the door for popping off about Mel's cooking in front of the customers. That is unprofessional.

There was a lot of unprofessional behavior from Mel and the waitresses.

But the show was funny especially the Flo years.

I couldn't believe how many bad food jokes there were. The food couldn't have been that bad if they had regular customers and they had jobs. Also, Mel never wore gloves while serving food. I don't know how enforced that law was back then, but it damn sure wouldn't sit right today.

The whole show would not had sat well today especially with health laws being passed on the way food is to be handled and labor laws on top of that.

Remember the episode where Alice had to wear a hair net? What abt Flo? She didn't and believe me, with all that hairspray in her hair, that sure wasn't fair to Alice to have to wear one. Why didn't Alice just put her hair up?

Did Mel ever say "There's the door" to any of their complaints?? It's been YEARS since I've seen most of these episodes. If he didn't, he should've. It's called put up or shut up, girls!
