Rapper Sean 'Diddy' Combs is to cement his superstar status with an honor on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The Come With Me hitmaker and Bad Boy Records mogul broke the news in a phone call to singer/actor Jamie Foxx on his satellite radio show, The Foxxhole, last week, when he revealed that he will receive his own star on Los Angeles' famed Hollywood Boulevard in a ceremony next month. He said: "I'm from Harlem, New York, so to get a star in Hollywood is just mind-blowing. You can get a lot of things but when you see those stars on the ground... that's something I can't even say I dreamed of and to be getting recognized for it is definitely something I'm gonna have my whole family out there for." I don't understand why and how he has remained a celebrity after all these years. In the late 90's, he was all over the place and made me want to shoot the television, but I can't even remember his last hit record, yet... he's still this huge star

He's gone from producer to other endeavors such as cologne and clothing line. He followed in the footsteps of his former "lady"
J-ho. He is a media mogul. He sure irks me with him spreading children around with different women. Although, I guess I shouldn't care since he can actually afford to take care of them.

Almost anyone can get a star. Its like a few thousand bucks and a bunch of signatures/plus someone cleaning it.

Great.
Another chance for us to watch Diddy get his ass kissed in public. Will the star have an erasable surface in case Seany changes his name again?

you ask yourself what he has done to deserve it, and the truth is, not much. besides, he's well known to everyone as being a rapper, as opposed to an actor.
i thought the hollywood walk of fame was reserved for actors and actresses from the world of tv and film- not music |

http://www.seeing-stars.com/Awards/StarUnveilings.shtml Although there are many people who have received the star that can be questionable and then there are those who have never received a star. It is given after a group (usually a fan club) puts in a petition or application with many signatures asking that so and so be added to the walk of fame. After the chamber of Hollywood approves it, the person who will be receiving that star must pay a fee for that star ($7,500). You'd be surprised at WHO HAS RECEIVED A STAR and those who do deserve it DON'T HAVE ONE. Here is more information: To be honored with a star in Hollywood's Walk of Fame, the world's most famous sidewalk, is a tribute as coveted and sought after as any of the entertainment industry's equally prestigious awards -- including the Oscar, Emmy, Grammy, Golden Mike or Tony. And, because it recognizes a life-long contribution of both public and peer appreciation, it is an honor uniquely in a class by itself. The Walk of Fame is a permanent monument of the past, as well as the present. Envisioned in 1958 as a lasting tribute to the personalities who helped make Hollywood the most famous community in the world, the Walk continues today as a superior asset to the city, perpetuating the aura that has made the name Hollywood synonymous with glamour. The Walk remains one of the city's most widely-seen tourist attractions. Administered by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, the Walk of Fame was designated, in 1978, as a Cultural/Historic Landmark by the City of Los Angeles. The Hollywood Historic Trust, a continuing, self-financing program, maintains the quality of the Walk of Fame and the historic lure that is Hollywood. A chronological history of the Hollywood-based entertainment industry, including the behind-the-scenes people as well as the most famous and instantly recognizable personalities, the Walk of Fame encompasses five acres of bronze stars embedded in pink terrazzo and surrounded by charcoal terrazzo squares. Inside each star is the bronze-engraved name of each artist and a distinctive emblem identifying in which of the five categories -- Motion Pictures, Television, Radio, Recording, or Live Theatre -- the recipient has been honored. The Walk of Fame lines both sides of Hollywood Boulevard from Gower to La Brea, and both sides of Vine Street, from Yucca to Sunset. Official groundbreaking ceremonies were conducted February 9, 1960. In sixteen months, when construction was completed, 1,558 luminaries were forever immortalized in the sidewalk. Since then, approximately one to two stars per month have been added. Stars dedicated in 1994 pushed the total over the 2000 mark. However, even at this rate, it will be many years before the stars in the famed Walk will be completely occupied, assuring the continued presence of Hollywood in the world's media, and remaining a highly visible and lasting tribute to a unique city. |
