Oh No MP3 player bought from Wal-Mart preloaded with porn

*sigh*

http://www.cnn.com/2007/TECH/ptech/1....ap/index.html

COOKEVILLE, Tennessee (AP) -- A father gave his 10-year-old daughter a Christmas present that would make Santa blush.

Now Daryl Hill wants to know why an MP3 video player he bought at a Wal-Mart in Sparta was preloaded with pornography and explicit songs.

Hill bought three of the players as Christmas presents for his children. He said one of the devices had apparently been returned to the store from a previous owner who loaded sex clips and songs with lyrics about using drugs.

"Within 10 minutes, my daughter was crying," Hill said Thursday. "I wish I could take the thoughts and images out of her head."

Hill questioned why Wal-Mart Stores Inc. would sell used merchandise as new, which he said violates its own policies.

A company spokesman said in an e-mail to WSMV-TV of Nashville that stores are not supposed to return opened packages to the sales floor and that the matter was under investigation.

Hill said he declined Wal-Mart's offer to replace the MP3 player. He said he has already bought his daughter a new one and is hanging onto the controversial one until he talks to a lawyer.

the guy is a man, surely he enjoyed watching the porn for himself once he confiscated it from his daughter, LOL.

Anyways, places sell open box items all the time, what's wrong with that? The Ipod I bought was open box, and I got a four year warrenty on it as well as a $50 giftcard from buying so.

LOL, why the heck was she watching it for 10 minutes and enough to make her cry? I think he just made that part up. When i was 10 years old, i knew what porn was and i sure as heck never cried about it. I might have laughed at it but that's it. I didn't grow up in a broken home or anything, its just something kids discover while flipping thru channels, etc. If i was the 10 yr old, i'd just show my parents and have them bring it back. The last thing i'd do is watch it for 10 freakin minutes.

As for Wal-mart, I dont understand why they dont check returned items. There could be a freakin bomb planted in a box and they'd never know.

It says "within 10 minutes", NOT that she watched it for ten minutes. It sounds like from the time she opened the package, to setting it up and actually discovering the porn is the time it took.

shows the difference between girls and boys. A 10 year old boy would be "wow, thanks dad, you're the coolest!!!" if he got an mp3 player loaded up with porn and gangsta rap

Would you please be serious? This is a disgraceful and shameful matter. Who
knows how long that little girl is going to be traumatized by this? And to even
suggest that the father secretly enjoys watching porn is nothing short of a
slap in the face to countless good fathers everywhere. You ought to be
ashamed of yourself.

I guess it depends on the type of porn. If it was just normal porn (not all them weird fetish/beastiality type ones) she shouldn't be traumatized. She's also almost a teenager so I mean, if you've gone that long and not been exposed to porn, then you are extremely sheltered.

traumatized by porn??? I was a ten year old once myself, and I could attest that many of the boys in my class were obsessed with sneaking peeks at Penthouse and Playboy magazine. 10 year olds aren't *that* innocent and pure. The father sounds like one of those types who is so overly protective of his children that most Disney cartoons are objectionable for a 13 year old in his eyes.... my older brother was that way with his kids (he wouldn't let his 13 and 15 year olds watch the ****ing Simpsons, and even today won't let his now 19 and 20 year olds on Myspace because he's afraid of them meeting "pedophiles", THEY'RE 19 AND 20 NOW!!!) and they rebelled big time once they reached a certain age.

You ought to be ashamed of yourself, you always sound so anti-social, you are completely devoid of any sense of humor and act like drying paint. Men and porn isn't necessarily a "bad thing", didn't you ever watch Friends? Monica and Chandler were married and she would even bring him porn to watch because she knew that even if he was her husband, he was still a man.
