TV Bill Bixby's Last Entertainment Tonight Interview

I recently watched Bill Bixby's last interview for Entertainment Tonight,
which I taped back in 1993. Of course, it is sad to watch but also uplifting.
Battling cancer, it was obvious that he had lost a lot of weight. But, even then, his thoughts were about others. He described another cancer patient
he had visited in the hospital. She had lost all her hair, from chemo therapy
treatments. But when he walked into her room, her face just glowed.

His last words to the audience were especially poignant: "Be good to yourselves, because if you're good to yourself, then you'll be good to everybody else ... I'd like to see that happen before I die." Two months
later, Bix was gone.

If there's an interview that I coundn't watch again,it's that one.I was in tears throught the all interview. The poor guy was in so much pain made me cry my eyes out.Yes,he delivered a beautiful message of hope and I agree with him heartly but,it would be too difficult for me to see him again like this.Sorry but,it's how I feel about it.I prefer to remember him on happier days.

Bill Bixby remains one of the most underrated actors of all time. And,
judging from that one interview, he was every bit as nice in real life as the
characters he portrayed on television. As someone on this board said, he
seemed like someone you would feel good to call a friend.

I agree completely, great way to state it! I recently watched this interview on You Tube... so touching and tragic, what a tremendous loss! He was a fighter to the end though. It is inspiring to see him fight to live life to the fullest in the gravest of circumstances.

I love what he said at the end of the interview, "Be good to yourselves"... just what he said so often when he said good bye to people as David Bannerat the end of TIH.

What a special man!! RIP.

I remember that interview, too - and it also made me cry!! Not only was he directing Blossom at the time of his death, co-star Ted Wass lost his wife to cancer around the same time. I can only imagine how sad that set must have been at that time.
