Arrow Tonight's Episode

I really have to hand it to Lifetime. They deal with one issue brilliantly, yet another issue..... Well, I should try to hold my anger.

The gambling storyline was very well done and provides a nice springboard for Jinny's alcoholism. My Dad works with compulsive gamblers and when that black guy (sorry, don't remember his name) was explaining about compulsive gambling I was nodding my head all through that. Very accurate. Also, gambling and alcohol often run concurrently. I think Lifetime will be dealing with the alcoholism more head-on after tonight and you could see Jinny becoming very uncomfortable when people talked about the compulsion.

I guess Dick's suicide will remain unsolved the way Lifetime is poorly writing it. I couldn't believe when CD and Angela burned that suicide note. How stupid can you get? With all the controversy surrounding US police departments, especially in the past 2 weeks with the Cincinnati riots, it's not like Lifetime needs to add to it. Kate needed to ream CD and Angela out like she did with Jinny awhile back because they deserved it.

The Magda storyline was good. I would like to see more exploration of that in the future. I hope it wasn't a one episode deal. Overall, it was a good episode, with the exception of Dick's suicide. Next week, back to Mulder and Scully!!

Well, I was sure cynical, but I've gotta admitt, I didn't expect the suicide twist. Leslie, I agree with everything you said about corruption, but I much rather see what they did there than have the contrived plot twist of CD coming clean then getting a minor suspension or something.

Points:

I never want to be in a situation where Magda points her finger at me. When she points, woah, does that girl get angry! She is a tough girl when she needs to be!

A couple more weeks like this with Angela may change my opinion on her. I am still not sure where I stand with her. Either she is a very complex character that we didn't get to know very well, or she was poorly written with little continuity this episode. It's hard to say. I loved how she told Capt. Kate that she was a hard ass.

I too noticed the correlation of the gambling/drinking thing. I think they were trying to show how Jinny was reflecting on her own life when she watching that lady gamble at the end of the episode.I liked the subtle message.

If I were going to be destoying incriminating evidence, I would not be doing it in the locker room of a police precinct. I'm just saying....

Was this the season finale? If it was, it was a little weak.

I don't think it was the season finale because they made a point to say that the final Any Day Now episode a few weeks back was the season finale and they never said that with the Division. Anyway, they are showing re-runs through May so I will be watching my Mulder and Scully again. The truth is out there, somewhere!

I'm really hoping that wasn't the season finale. It was a pretty good episode but not one of my favorites. Just seems like there were alot of unaddressed issues for a season finale episode.

I was disappointed, too, on how the whole Dick suicide thing ended. C.D. didn't even get a slap on wrist which is not a good message after she knowingly lied and led police officers on a goose chase.

I was ok with the Magda and Ben's Father stuff. I noticed they have taken Peter out of the opening credits so he's probably gone for good. Seems like they could've done alot more with that Magda/Peter storyline.

I didn't really put together that whole Jinny gambling addiction thing until I read your post. It makes more sense to me now. I was wondering why Jinny was taking so much interest in getting that woman to gambler's anonymous. She must subconsciously know that she has an addiction of her own. To be honest it just seems like it's been a long while since we've seen Jinny drink and I almost forgot she had a problem.

The one thing that gets me about this show is that they will go weeks without showing a character (ie. Teddy, Captain's daughter, Jinny's family, Captain's boyfriend, CD and Angela's husbands). They get you interested in a Jinny and Teddy relationship and then poof they aren't shown again. Hopefully, they will still air a season finale ep that will tie up some of the loose ends
