Jacko to McCartney -- You're Dead to Me!

Maybe he's on Team Heather, maybe he's just jealous that Paul's still got a face, but Michael Jackson has a message for Paul McCartney on the 25th anniversary release of "Thriller" -- the song is mine!

FOX News reports that the new mixes on the re-release of "Thriller" are out, and Paul is nowhere to be seen on the new version of "The Girl is Mine." Jacko and producer Will.I.Am have scrubbed Macca out of the song, which was originally, of course, a duet. He's a real nowhere man!

Kanye West does a version of "Billie Jean," while Akon has his own rendition of "Wanna Be Starting Something."

first of all, I think the new remixes are pointless considering I doubt 90% of the people who bought Thriller in the 1980's can give a rats bottom about Akon, will.i.am, Kanye or anyone else MJ has recruited. They should've just put more demo tracks, and complete versions compared to the 2001 remaster version. Thriller with Kanye and Akon would be like 40th anniversary editions of The White Album and Beggar's Banquet next year with John Mayer and Alicia Keys.

secondly, yes Paul has ripped on Michael many times but Michael fails to understand why. I do think Paul might have went a little too far not letting Michael use "Say Say Say" on any of his hits collections (whereas Stevie Wonder put "Ebony And Ivory" on his Song Review collection), but to just remove McCartney's presence from the song is defiling it. Oh well, The Girl Is Mine is the weakest track from Thriller either which way.

I'm sure Paul is shaking in his shoes.

Michael wishes that he has had the career that Paul has had. Personally, I think that Thriller is way overrated.

I have to agree. Thriller is a good album, but Michael has been milking it's memory way too long, and putting new "remixes" featuring rappers who were three when the album came out, so younger listeners who wouldn't normally buy an album released in 1982 reeks of desperation. One might argue that Purple Rain or Born In The U.S.A. are "dated" and "scream 1980's" when it comes to blockbusters from the Reagan administration, but I think Thriller is just as dated, if not moreso, and Michael himself realizes so by recruiting today's rap stars as an attempt to get kids to buy a 25 year old album.

I think that both Born In the USA and Purple Rain still sound really fresh. My problem with Thriller is not that it sounds dated, but that it was never that good in the first place. The only songs on it that I really like are "Beat It" (featuring a great guitar solo by Eddie Van Halen), "Billie Jean" and "Human Nature".

I like Thriller (most of it, anyway), but I never thought of it as the album of all albums. Remember when MJ was accepting some award and thought it was for Artist of the Millenium, when it was really for best single or something??? I think he really is in love with himself - with that face, would anyone else be??
