Default Guess what I received today for Xmas...

..."Taxi" S1 (1978-79)!

Remember how I said that I had the opportunity to rent it out from Netflix, and how hard I laughed at it? I thought to myself, both during my viewing of it and after, 'this one's a keeper.' I believe I even told my father the same thing. Well, today, for Christmas, I finally got the full season set. This is the one that I had regretted passing up in the Wal-Mart, because I didn't think it was any good. I was proven wrong (I was floored, even) by how good and wonderful it was when I tried it out from Netflix. This and "Mary Tyler Moore" (the first two seasons of which I have of that) are two of my favorite comedies of the past. Sure, the "Taxi" discs may not have any bonuses to them, but you can't fault Paramount or anyone for that-- I'm just glad to have the first season's worth of "Taxi." This, because I am a chronological arranger when it comes to television discs, means that I have an uninterrupted string of television seasons from 1977 ("CHiPs" S1) to 1986 (the end of "Moonlighting" S2).

I know I may sound like a broken record, but I'll tell you the truth-- my expression wouldn't have been the same had I gotten any of the '90's sitcoms instead of this.

To continue, what kind of television series did you get for Christmas if you got any?

I received The Odd Couple : The Second Season. My mom said she had a hard time finding it here. The clerk at Circuit City didn't know what she was talking about.

My gift was the complete "Man From UNCLE" series set. And a gift card allowed me to get "Wild Wild West" S3 for nothing.

I didn't know that you love "Taxi." Do you also love "The Odd Couple"? It would seem by your response that you do.

If you're looking to start up a library, why not "Taxi," like I got, or "Mary Tyler Moore," which I also have. I think those are some good starters. You might even try "Hawaii Five-O"-- that, IMHO, was a good one.
