Default Slight goof in script/performance of "Mind Your Own Business"

"Mind Your Own Business" is the episode in which Ralph, while playing "Gin" with Ed in the opening scene, is told by Ed that a promotion in the sewer will probably go to another guy because of "politics"... meaning that this other guy has been working in the sewer that runs under City Hall for the last year or so, allowing him (according to Ed) to get in good with big shots...

Anyway, Ralph, of course, advises Ed to demand that promotion, accompanied by a threat to quit his job if they don't promote him

Ed, of course, is fired... he shows up at the Kramden apartment the next day, and tells Alice only that he "had words with his boss Jim McKeever" after which McKeever fired him.

That's all he tells Alice about what happened...

After Ed leaves, Ralph arrives home a few seconds later... Alice immediately breaks the news about Ed's firing to Ralph...

But Alice tells Ralph that "Ed threatened to quit his job if they didn't give him the promotion"

The question is, how did Alice know the circumstances of Ed's firing??

Ed never mentioned anything to Alice about what was said between he and McKeever... what's more, not only did Alice mysteriously know that Ed had threated to quit if he didn't get the promotion, but she somehow "knew" that someone ELSE had given Ed that advice, as she tells Ralph "...boy i wish i could get my hands on whoever gave Ed that advice... "

Either someone wrote the script badly, or else Carney forgot his lines in which he explained to Alice WHY he was fired.

There DOES seem to be a few pauses in the scene with Ed/Alice, I wonder if Alice was waiting for Ed to say his lines... But even if he forget them, Audrey, being the trooper that she is, played the scene with Ralph just the way it was supposed to go, even though she might have realized that her explanation wouldn't have made sense from a "continuity" standpoint.

Anyway, I just noticed that for the first time a couple of days ago when I watched the episode... don't know if anyone else has noticed that or whether it was perhaps already posted here, but I just thought i'd pass it along anyway... it was still a great episode of course!

Merry Christmas to everyone!

Thanks! I just took a peek at your site, looks great! Sure enough, that one was on there

I kind of had a feeling it was probably brought up at some point, I figured I wasn't the first person ever to spot that one... and S/Online has so many great people finding stuff like that all the time... I just didn't want to take the time to do a search here to try to find it...

Thanks for the link to your site! I have it bookmarked, i'll check out the C39 bloopers that are listed...and of course, I'll be happy to let you know if I spot any more... but no promises of course... most folks out there seem to be a lot better at catching that kind of stuff than I am...

Happy New Year to everyone!
