A question (I need some reassurance) - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I'd just like to know-- if you purchase a DVD package of a certain television series (like I did "Knight Rider" S1), do you really have to see everything that is included in the package in order to complete it? The reason I ask is because I am uncertain about the "KR2000" reunion film, which NBC aired 16 years ago. Unfortunately, it is attached to the bonus disc of "Knight Rider" S1, along with the remaining extras. I'm worried about it because some reviewers of the set say that the "KR2000" film was awful, while others thought it was okay. I've never seen the film before, so I don't know who to believe, and being that I usually like to see everything on a particular television disc set, I don't want to leave it out.

Since the reunion movie was separate from the series you don't have to watch it to complete it but on the other hand, You should never let anyone's opinion influence your own decisions. If you've heard both positive and negative reviews then the best thing would be to watch and judge for yourself. I haven't see the reunion film but I certainly wouldn't complain if it was included as bonus extra.

I may try it out sometime. Thanks for the tip. I'll see how far I get in it and make my own opinion of it from there. It may be good, and it may be bad. You just never know. It's usually good to try new things, as they say.

I have the first 3 seasons of Knight Rider and plan to get the 4th sometime soon. I watched the KR2000 film and in my opinion it was terrible. This is just my opinion of course, so as Zoneboy said, don't let others opinion affect your own.
I don't know why they included it as a bonus on S1. It should have been on S4. It takes place years after the series ended. So if you plan on getting the other seasons you may want to hold off on watching it until you're caught up on what happens. Again, just my opinion of course.

Thanks for the tip, TV_Fan, but I'm still unsure about getting any other seasons. What was it about "KR2000" that was terrible? Was it the fact that KITT, which in this film turned into KIFT (Knight Industries Four Thousand), had more of an attitude than in the original series? Or was it the fact that James Doohan (of the classic '60's "Star Trek" series) mumbled Trek-speak after KIFT stunned him?

Also, you echoed my sentiments about the odd placement of the film-- they should have used it to end the series with the S4 release. This way, those who have all of "Knight Rider" on DVD would have a chronological record of the series, from its beginnings through the film at least.

It's hard to say, it was just plain BAD. The plot was really poor. Well, maybe it's just because it's supposed to take place in the future from when it aired. I can't remember the year, but I think sometime in the late 90's. I think it aired early 90's. The way the world was they portrayed was too unbelieveable. My memory of it is a little foggy since I haven't watched it in awhile. The music was terrible. Also I don't like how they, well what happenned to one of the characters. I won't spoil it.
Anyway, Anchor Bay did the same thing with Greatest American Hero. They put the unaired proposed spinoff pilot on the first season. The events of it take place after season 3 when the series was over. Many reviews even warned about this. I decided to wait until after I had and watched season 3 to watch it.

Well, I'm 27 min. into the film, and so far I don't think that I've seen much terrible (other than, of course, the futuristic pistols without bullets, KITT's attitude, etc.). I may finish it just to get it out of the way, and then, I'm sticking with the originals thereafter, as well as the other extras. What I would recommend is, if you see this film and you don't want to hear James Doohan speaking Trek-speak, I would recommend that you mute the film at that point if it embarrasses you, and then pick up from there.

I just earlier got through "KR2000." It was okay, but it wasn't all that great. The Knight 4000 was a good-looking car, though (at least in my opinion).
