In real life was Jim Nabors and Frank Sutton close friends? also how was he close to Ronnie Schell ,Ted Bessell and Roy Stuart?

I've heard that Frank Sutton and Ronnie Schell were close friends with Jim which is one reason they both agreed to costar on The Jim Nabor's Hour.
