(New York) Striking WGA member Robert McKenna refused to sign a class trip permission slip, forcing his young daughter Helen to miss a trip to Radio City Music Hall to see the annual Christmas show.

“I feel bad that Helen had to miss out on a fun day,” McKenna stated as he walked a picket line outside NBC Studios in Manhattan. “But I cannot cross the picket lines. I can’t betray my fellow writers for anything. I just hope the TV Networks realize they’re hurting not just us, but our families as well.”

McKenna was later overheard telling his fellow striking writers how his Mother is now in a shelter because he couldn’t in good conscience write any more checks to pay for her nursing home.

what an idiot. So basically, he is choosing his "fellow writers" over his own family? If my father did that, i'd never see him again. Also, the nerve of him for putting his mom in a shelter, where she can be in danger of things like drugs and bad people.

I understand his strike may be against WRITING for TV Network SHOWS, so that means he can't pick up a pen and sign a check or his daughter's permission slip? That isn't writing.

Yeah, well i'm pretty sure this has happened before anyways, in some form. These days, you can conjure up anything, and someone somewhere has done it.

LOL, when i skimmed through it i thought it was real and he didnt want his daughter going to New York because tha'd be literally "crossing the picket line"...then i read it again and knew it was a joke

Wow, I'm sorry if i upset a few of you.

I thought it was a funny premise - a writer who takes the strike so literally that he refuses to even write his name; either on a permission slip or a check.

I didn't think anyone would actually believe there was such a person.

I'll just write "this is a joke" in the title box from now on.
