December 18, 2007 -- WHOOPI Goldberg, who's supposed to add a touch of niceness to "The View's" post- Rosie O'Donnell era, mixed it up with co-host Sherri Shepherd yesterday.
Whoopi got the freshman coffee klatcher so mad, in fact, that Goldberg snapped "You're ready to fight," during a heated exchange on celebrity etiquette. Shepherd seemed as peeved by Whoopi constantly interrupting her as she was about a disagreement over when celebrities are obliged to give autographs. Shepherd said she thinks it's OK to ask for an autograph if someone's a really big fan - and will probably never get the chance to see that star in person again. Whoopi disagreed, explaining that the person who's asking for the autograph should realize the celebrity has already been asked the same thing many times before - and doesn't want to be intrusively interrupted. When Shepherd pressed the issue, Whoopi exploded. "So you're telling me that because you want my autograph, I'm supposed to stop for you? Who-the-hell are you?" she said. "And I come with absolute respect when I say this." Goldberg grew increasingly irritated as the discussion continued. "Wait a minute. Relax! Relax!" she said to Shepherd. "I'm relaxed," Shepherd responded. "No you're not," Goldberg said. "You're ready to fight! You're sitting like this," she said, adopting a fighter's stance. She then offered some unsolicited advice on the pitfalls of fame: "You will learn this more and more that sometimes you have to say, 'It's not good right now.' " she said. Yesterday also marked the impressive debut of "O'Reilly Factor" regular Margaret Hoover as a co-host. The blonde political commentator defended her great-grandfather Herbert Hoover's role in the Great Depression - and also talked about how the early primaries were less important in this election cycle. http://www.nypost.com/seven/12182007...ght_309577.htm |

Wow, what luck was this-LOL. I was watching Price is Right, and during a commerical, I just happened to come to this, fight in progress, and boy, Whoopi sure stood her ground. I was just so damn happy to see somebody tell off that dumb-ass Sherri Shepherd-LOL

Still wishing I could see the earlier episodes of this show before it became all about the arguments.

I guess Sherri is appreciative of her new found fame and being recognized and knows how to treat fans, whereas Whoopi has been around for a very, very long time and sounds like she is tired of the whole autograph thing. I guess when people no longer pay attention to Whoopi, no longer bug her for an autograph, no longer care, that is when Whoopi will think twice abt how to treat fans.
Funny, back in the olden days when I was working at this automotive place, Whoopi came to purchase some items (while I was AT LUNCH!!) and my co-workers told me how nice she was and she signed a few autographs. I guess that was back when she didn't mind all that stuff. Check this out from CNN: NEW YORK (AP) -- Want an autograph from Johnny Depp? Chances are, he'll sign something for you -- and not be a jerk about it. Johnny Depp "likes to talk to fans and get to know them while signing," says an autograph dealer. The 44-year-old actor is the most gracious celebrity -- for the third year in a row -- on Autograph magazine's annual list of the "10 Best and 10 Worst Hollywood Signers." Depp is " 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' on film, and Johnny and the Signing Factory in person," the magazine said. "Though soft-spoken and laid-back, [Depp] likes to talk to fans and get to know them while signing," New York autograph dealer Anthony Risi explains in the December issue, now on newsstands. "He'll sign more than one item when he has time, too." Watch Depp muse on his murderous new movie » The magazine said editors compiled input from autograph-collecting judges based in Europe, New York and California in ranking the celebs. Matt Damon is second on the list, followed by George Clooney, Jack Nicholson, Rosario Dawson, John Travolta, Katherine Heigl, Jay Leno, Dakota Fanning and Russell Crowe -- wait, Russell Crowe? Crowe, who has a history of throwing temper tantrums, ranked among the worst signers on last year's list. But in a turnaround, the magazine said, the 43-year-old actor "started treating fans great, signing, taking pictures and chatting them up." WHO IS THE WORST? Will Ferrell is deemed the worst celebrity signer, followed by Tobey Maguire, Joaquin Phoenix, William Shatner, Renee Zellweger, John Malkovich, Julie Andrews, Bruce Willis, Teri Hatcher and Scarlett Johansson. However, "keep in mind that even the best signers don't sign sometimes, the worst sometimes do, and that just because they're on the worst list doesn't mean they're bad people," the magazine said. E-mail to a friend WHOO HOO JOHN TRAVOLTA IS ON THE BEST LIST!
