Default Has anyone else seen the commercial that honors the Charmin man "Mr. Whipple"?

Last night on ABC during a commercial break there was a "commercial" showing the late Dick Wilson as Mr. Whipple and it was in black and white then they proceeded to show on screen how he was going to be missed and a thank you? I can't exactly remember the details. I thought it was so awesome. It reminded me of those "commercials" right after 9/11 where they showed us pics of New York or something related to 9/11 and words appeared on the screen telling us to never forget and "in memory of those who died that day".

No, I never saw that one!! What a nice way to pay tribute to Dick Wilson. I remember him much more as the drunk from Bewitched than as Mr. Whipple, but what a terrific way to pay homage to him. Yay!!

I agree, what a great way to honor him. I have never seen anything like that for a man who was known more for a commercial than anything else. I wonder if they will do this in the future for other notables who die?

Yes, I've seen it - perfectly done. They really honoured him with that ad.

If Charmin wasn't such crap and clogged toilets like it does, I might almost go out and buy some because of it.

I've seen the commercial as well. I was very touched that Charmin would honor the memory of a man that was obviously such an important part of image of the product for many, many years.

I've seen the ad. It's nice that they remembered him and what he did for their company.

It's like some unearthly combination of styrofoam and felt! When I visited my aunt last January, the poor thing was up the entire night (at age 85!) when all the plumbing in the house backed up. We had to get a plumber at 11:30 at night in an emergency who spent the entire night there. I think he left around 7:30 a.m. Cost her something like $1800 and when he found out she used Charmin, he'd said that was the cause. I'm surprised they haven't been sued or something.
No wonder Mr. Whipple found it so squeezable!

I've seen that Charmin commercial many times on Youtube and I think they did a really nice tribute to Dick Wilson and I wonder why Charmin doesn't make a new commercial with a new actor playing Mr. Whipple and if Charmin had a new actor to play Mr. Whipple the commercials would be better than the ones with the bears
