Question Pop songs sung in music class

When you were in school, did you recall singing any pop songs? While music class tended to focus on traditional music, we had a few pop songs thrown in over the years.

I recall the following:

"Joy To The World" - Three Dog Night (we skipped the second verse "If I were the king of the world...")
"Song Sung Blue" - Neil Diamond
"Time In A Bottle" - Jim Croce
"Wind Beneath My Wings" - Lou Rawls (although a classmate claimed it was the Bette Midler version)

I would have included "Swing Low Sweet Chariot" since Eric Clapton sang a version of it.

We sang a few in elementary chorus just for fun. Such as BarbarAnn (Beach boys), Joy to the World (Three Dog Night) Country Roads and Thank God I'm a country boy (John Denver). But in Highschool we sang 2 of them for our highschool concerts and they were Bridge over Troubled Water (Simon and Garfunkel) and the song MLK ( Martin Luthur King By U2). We also did the song Wishing and Hoping (I don't remember who sang it but it's from my best friends Wedding) in our Girls Glee Club but our show choir did a ton of pop songs such as Love Shack (B-52's) Bohemian Rhapsody (Queen) Longer (Dan Fogelberg) Wendy (The Associtates) and Seasons of love (Don't remember who sang it but it's from the movie/musical Rent)

"Wishing and Hoping" (technically it's called "Wishin' and Hopin'") was done by Dusty Springfield.

Actually, it's "Windy" by The Association. I sang that, too, in seventh grade music class. I remember my teacher asked for a show of hands as to who had heard of it, and I was like the only one to raise my hand!

We sang a ultra-cheesy version of Paula Abdul's Opposites Attract in 4th grade. We made a change in the "I don't like cigarettes/and I like to smoke" verse with "I like Pepsi/and I like Coke" or something. That same year we sang Making Our Dreams Come True, aka the Laverne & Shirley theme. The next year we sang From A Distance, as the Gulf War had just ended a couple of months prior.

When I was in 7-12 grade, I was in the choir. We didn't sing that many pop songs, but I remember clearly that we did Ticket to Ride. It was the slow ballad version arrangement that the Carpenters did, but we sang it in a higher key.

When I was in 6th grade music class, we sang Sammy Davis Jr's "Candy Man" and song by The Association.

Angry Music Class Sucked

I wasn't that lucky, The only songs my teachers knew were "This Land is Your Land" , "Oh Susannah" , "My Country Tis of thee" , "Michael" and that wretched "B-I-N-G-O" uke:

we did Candy man also, but mostly we did "Folk" songs like Blowing in the wind and Joanie Mitchell songs.....since I went to French school, I should include the Rene Simard songs but, I'm trying to supress that memory!!!
