Wesley Snipes A Victim Of Racism? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Wesley Snipes has slammed the media for portraying him as a "bad guy" after he was charged with tax fraud, claiming he is a victim of racism. Snipes, 45, is due to stand trial next month in Florida on charges he fraudulently claimed tax refunds of almost $12 million in 1996 and 1997. He is also accused of failing to file tax returns from 1999 to 2004.

But the star has blamed the press and its racial prejudice for over-exaggerating the scandal, and depicting him as a villain.

He says, "It was easy for people to jump on the 'Wesley's the bad guy' bandwagon. That's where I think the systematic racism comes in. We're conditioned in this country to believe that if there's a problem, the black man is the culprit."

Snipes also blames discrimination for the box office failure of his 2004 movie Blade:Trinity.

He adds, "There are so few guys who do action and do it well. Even fewer who are African-American. Even fewer who have classical-theater training. So a cat like me coming in, I'm bringing all of that to an action movie. Since there are so few people that do this and have that pedigree, people disregard their contribution."

why do celebrities, particularly those from ethnic minorities, cite racism as an excuse for their failings?

blade trinity bombed, not because it had anything to do with the colour of his skin, but that it was a **** movie

yeah but the sad thing is the likes of michael jackson and wesley snipes, being black people, they keep whining and complaining about things not going their way because of something that shouldn't get in the way of their fame. i'm not saying that racism should be condoned, i'm from a minority group myself but i don't bitch all the time about race and how it affects my work and my personal life

I'm sick of people screwing up their OWN selves and then in the end they decide to blame it on the race issue. To me it's why when someone is genuinely been treated harshly or bad in any degree because of the color of their skin, some people don't want to believe it. Sadly in this day and age some people still are being treated unfairly because of their race, sexuality, or whatever, and for someone to play off that knowing full well that with them it's not the case, to me that is just wrong.

I remember the IRS went after Willie Nelson with a vengeance. And what is the baloney about Snipe's movie bombing because he's black AND has threater training. Who even knew, or the bigger question, who even cares. If your movie bombed, stop blaming the color of your skin. How does Snipes explain his previous successful movies, given his logic? There are many black actors and actresses today, winning awards left and right. I'm so sick of listening to the whiners of the world, well, whining.

Wesley's ass needs to go to prison for not paying his taxes. It's simple as that. His situation has nothing to do with racism. LOL@Wesley saying racism is the reason why his Blade movie sucked. It's a trip how he used to do good movies back in the day and now he's doing straight to video movies hahahahahahahahahahahaha.

Wesley has aged terribly. I saw a recent picture of him and he doesn't look well. White Men Can't Jump and New Jack City are my favorites of his. I never get tired of watching White Men Can't Jump. LOL@the scene when Woody Harrelson beats Wesley in a shootout from the top of the circle at the beach at the basketball court and Kadeem Hardison says to Wesley, you said we were going to Sizzler Sidney. Wesley said aww man shut your anarexic, malnutrition, tapeworm having, overdose Dick Gregory bahamian diet drinking ass up hahahahahahahahahahaha. Leave me alone LOL. Another scene i like is when Kadeem is dissing another black dude at the basketball court and Kadeem says i saw your mother kicking a can down the street and i said what you doing, she said moving hahahahahahahahaha. Then Wesley dissed the same dude who Kadeem dissed in another scene and Wesley called his mom a astronaut LOL. The dude said let's just get off mothers cause i just got off yours LOL.
