Default Lisa Bonet appreciation thread

Did anyone else out there love her as much as I did? When I was a kid, I thought there were very few people who were cooler than her. The way she completely presented herself as a freespirit and completely did her own thing is something I always admire and I think it totally worked for her in the late 80's/early 90's. I remember how cool it was watching the 89-90 season and each week Lisa found another haircut to sport, it was almost like how Madonna used to change her look each video back in those days. I will admit I actually quit watching Cosby in first run for good when she was fired for the second time (for good). Whether she goes by Bonet or Liliquoi Moon, I'll always be interested when she does something new.

I really liked her on The Cosby Show, especially in the early seasons. She was obvious the greatest of the 5 children, and probably the best actor of them all. But when she spun off to A Different World, and then got pregnant, I lost a lot of respect for her. She was given her own show, and was getting a lot of praise for it, then gets pregnant.

But when she came back to The Cosby Show, she was still a great actress, and I was sorry to see her go again by the eighth season. She just made have to watch Olivia a little funner-LOL

Yeah, never cared for those 2 much. Sondra was way too intellectual and boring for me, and Vanessa was always just a background character anyways.

OMG! I was a huge fan of hers as a kid. She had the best clothes, makeup, etc.,. She seemed to always be on the cutting edge. I lost interest in her when she went for the more natural look and lifestyle. Not my kind of thing at all. I remember when she married Lenny Kravitz and everybody was like, "Why is she marrying that loser?" because he was an unknown. I really think doing the nude scenes in Angel Heart squashed her career. At the time, I don't think audiences (or Bill Cosby) were ready for her to be so adult. She was married for a little over a year when Zoe was born so I don't think that was a big deal.

Too intellectual, huh? Now, that's my kind of people. However, I think Sondra was too much like her mother. No, really, she was becoming worse than her mother! And Vanessa could be really interesting too. But of course, this thread is about Denise, and I liked her too, of course.

That's a good way to put Sondra - too much like her mother. We never saw much of her, but when we did, it was boring. The only episode where she was "unleashed" was when she thinks her mother is stealing her kids away from her. Denise, on the other hand, was always fun to watch, no matter what scene she was in.

And Sondra was the only one, who ever made Claire shut up. That's why I think she will be even worse.

I don't know if I truly agree with you tho. Lisa was a grown woman and she was already married to Lenny Kravitz and then got pregnant after a year of marriage. Granted, it might not have been for the best interest for her show but I think she was already an adult and married, so it wasn't exactly like the Jamie Lynn Spears thing going on now.

I honestly think Bill could've kept her on ADW by filming a lot of episodes at once and putting Denise in loose-fitting clothes and whatever. Sarah Jessica Parker was already six months pregnant during the season 5 finale of Sex And The City and they had her done up so well that you didn't even notice she was with child.

Was she already married to Lenny? Did not know that. She should have used a bit more wisdom when it came to the situation. She had some responsibility on her shoulders. I wish that she had stayed with ADW. She was my favorite Huxtable child and was the funniest during season two and then season six.

According to imdb.com, she married Lenny on Nov. 16, 1987. Zoe was born December 1, 1988.

She seemed too stuffy, even for an older sister and an Ivy Leaguer. I can't imagine her hanging out with Theo and her sisters.

Okay. Didn't know. I wished that she had exercised more caution. Lisa working with Debbie Allen would have been a great thing for the show. I still blame Anne Beatts for season one and not Lisa!

I can. Especially during the first two seasons, later down the line she kinda matured being married and all and having two kids.
