On August 19th, I posted a message called "Florida". On this post, I asked other readers some questions that I have still no gotten "any" answeres to! If you look down, you will find that this post has "zero" responses! If you go to a site called "Jump the Shark" you will see that the most recent post is mine and in it, I esentially asked the same questions that I am about to ask now. This has to do with the circumstanses in which Mrs. Claven sells the suburban house in which she raised Cliff, moves to Florida and then moves back to Boston and took an apartment with Cliff. The thing that I am a little bit confused about is the chronology of events. I remember how shortly after the house was leveled, Norm and his wife let Cliff move in on a temporary basis. A few episodes later, Cliff had bought a home in a singles' villige. Some time later, Cliff's Mom came back to visit and took a liking to Woody. This made Cliff feel slightly threatened. The episode ended with Mrs. Claven assuring Cliff that she will never love him any less than she always has and then heading back South. On a "Jump the Shark" message that I posted a while back, someone responded by telling me that there was an episode in which she moved back to Boston after losing all of her money in Florida. The thing that I would like to learn more about is the circumstances of this episode. How did she lose her money? How did they deal with Cliff's willingness to give up life in the singles community and take an apartment with her? What season did all of this take place in? Any information that anyone would post on any of these realities would be "very" appreciated!

I am bringing this thread to the top of the page in an attempt to get more of the information that I am after. The first thing that I would like to do is thank the Canadian for giving me the information that he or she did! However, there are still a few more things that I would like to get straightened out. Yes I realize that at this point it sounds like I am obsessing! However, some of us are unable to help what goes on in our heads. This is why we have organizations like the one that I am a client of! In any event, I understand that Mrs. Claven lost all of her fortune by betting on the dog track. Incidentially, someone on another board told me this and said that it was expressed in just one line! What I have a hard time understanding is how a "very" important dynamic of the show could get altered through just one line! First off, they would have to deal with Cliff's willingness to give up the singles' life and take his mother back. Also, his ability and willingness to sell the condo that he bought in the singles' village. If someone could tell me what season all of this took place in, that would be "great"! I would be more than happy to buy that season on DVD to get reaquainted with that set of circumstances. Another thing that might be helpful would be if someone could tell me what else happened in that episode. Like for instance, the other subplot of the episode in which she sold her suburban home was the premise of Rebecca have earned the nickname of "Back seat Becky". This happened while she was a student at the University of Connuticut. Take care everyone!

It may be on season 9, when Ma Clavin moves in with Woody. Not really sure, though.

I agree with the previous post: try "Ma Always Did Like you Best" from season9.

I would "really" like to thank "everyone" who has tried to help me get this issue straight in my mind! However, since reading the past two responses, I have done some research and read about the episode that was mentioned. This turned out to be the one that I thought that it was from the beginning. Being that Cliff was raised as an only child, he never had to worry about his mother loving someone else more than she loves him. This all started to change when she took a liking to Woody! I am not sure, but I think that Woody let her stay in his apartment because Cliff did not have an extra room in his single's pad. In the end, all was well and Cliff learned his lesson about how unfair it was to acuse his mother of loving him any less than she ever did. Now, correct me if I am wrong, but I was almost "sure" that the episode ended with her heading back to the home that she bought in Florida! It was not until later the I remember an episode in which she was back to living with Cliff, this time in an apartment. Can anyone tell me what peice of the puzzle I am missing? I seriously doubt that the issue of Mrs. Clavin losing her money at the dog races came up in the episode in which she took a liking to Woody. Also, someone earlier said that this issue was expressed through just "one" line! If this is the case, I am wondering what the main theme of that episode was. Please help!
